I had been planning a solo trip already for WDW in Jan and was thinking I would take my mom and nephew down in early May to Vero.. however do to circumstances beyond our control, they will not be able to go.

So what's your take? VB worth it solo?

I would do it. My work is stressful enough that just to be able to sit on the balcony, veg out and listen to the ocean would be just fabulous. Of course, if I got a room where I could see it, that would be a bonus!

Unless you would love to lay out at the pool or beach 12 hours a day, there isn't a heck of lot more to do there. If you don't have a car your really going to climb the walls and if you do it's a long drive to anywhere.
I was just there in early May with DS, DIL and 3 grandkids, I'm not a pool or beach person so I was bored silly except for the day we played golf. I would never consider going there solo, but that's just me. I make several trips a year to WDW solo and never run out of things to do or places to go or dine and I have a much better pool to lounge at if that's what I chose to do (not).

Whatever you decide I hope you have a great solo trip.

I'll be there Memorial Day weekend solo as I do every year.

I would do a solo trip to VB. It's a great place to just relax. We were there 5 days and I wasn't bored at all. :thumbsup2

I go every year in March (Spring Break for me) by myself. Some people think I am crazy, but it really re-energizes me. I like being able to just veg out for five days, listening to/seeing the ocean from my balcony. I just booked my Ocean View Inn Room today for next March. If you are someone who enjoys the beach and pool, and you have no trouble being alone, then I think you will enjoy Vero solo.

I'm thinking of going next year to VB by myself. It's good to know that others have done it or considering it.

DH and I just returned from 7 glorious days at VB with two 16 year olds. I get more vacation than DH and I already have my ressies to return solo for 5 more relaxing days by the beach and pool!! :cool1:

Disney is always more fun with friends and family, but I would go solo if that was my only option... :thumbsup2

If you are planning on doing lots of R&R sitting on hammocks and reading good books, laying on the beach, or getting poolside massages than VB solo would be great..

There are quite a few activities that someone could so solo.. Wine tasting :drinking1 Jet Skiing or Kayaking.. :boat: Taking Oceangraphic institute tours.. Character B'fast with Goofy and Max :goofy: Naturalist tour.. :butterfly

One of the charms of VB is that is runs at a slower pace to complement the hectic nature of a WDW Commando schedule... I personally love it, but if you are looking for constant entertainment or are the kind of person that always needs something going on around them, then you may want to see if you can keep your WDW ressie...

I really have to disagree with this statement. The resort offers an array of activities daily. There is boating and fishing (fresh and salt) on property as well as off. There are jet-ski and hobie-cat rentals on site. A nice massage is always an option. There's always tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, croquet, etc. If you do have a car there are fine golf courses within minutes. There are museums, shopping, movies, and an array of dining options within 5 to 20 minutes.( I don't consider 5 to 20 minutes a long drive ) Some might be interested in checking out some Manatees. Dodgertown is 20 minutes tops from VB. The Kennedy Space Center is, in fact, a bit of a ride but worthwhile.

If you, like the above poster, are not a beach or pool person, then I wouldn't suggest VB to you anymore than I would recommend the Alps to a non-skier. It is, after all, called the Vero BEACH Resort. So it's only natural that sun, sand, and sea play a major role here. But there most definitely are other worthwhile things to do. Far from climbing the walls; my family(myself included) has to be dragged kicking and screaming when it's time to leave. And while my DS9 still rates a cruise as his all-time favorite vacation, he prefers VB over WDW. And he LOVES WDW.

I'm glad I have the best of both worlds. I get to go to VB and WDW each yr taking 2 trips. Can't wait to get back to the beach.
