We are going this weekend (my girlfriends & I) and would like to know your recommendations. We would like to keep the cost down please. Seafood is a plus. Where do you eat and what so you like about it? Thanks, I want this to be a great weekend.

For quick food I thought the pizza and wings were good at the little pizza place right down the street from the resort. I can't remember the name of the place, but you can walk there from the resort. I think we got a salad too. We ate this one night as we sat on the deck and watched the ocean and drank wine. I didn't eat at any of the onsite restaurants, so I can't comment. I was only there a few nights and we did mostly quick dining / take out.

I believe it's called Orchid Island Pizza, and it's really good. We also ate at Squid Lips two times - really enjoyed it.

Another vote for Squid Lips. We ate there in June and the food was good and not expensive. There is a very casual atmosphere and there was an older crowd on the night we were there. Live music was performed by three men who sang songs from the sixties. They were very good. Orchid Beach Pizza was also a good choice. My husband picked it up and we ate in the room. Marie

Hello,

We enjoyed the Ocean Grill. It was not overly expensive, and the view of the waves crashing outside the window was very nice. Just try to make it before dark, because it's hard to see the water after dark.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Bill

We have picked up pizza at Orchid Island several times and give that a thumbs up.

For seafood, another vote for Squid Lips. I am still craving those bacon wrapped sea scallops - yum! Entrees seem to be in the $15 - $25 range.

We also have gotten drinks and appetizers at Capt. Hiram's. Their sand floor by the bar is a lot of fun. Great drinks in a unique atmosphere!

As a side note, we went on a deep sea fishing excursion from the Capt. Hiram's marina. The restaurant cooked the catch for us that night. It was very good and reasonably priced.

Have a great trip!

Hello,

Can someone describe where exactly Squid Lips & Capt Hirams are in regards to VB? We didn't explore too much last year, other than going to Ocean Grill in Vero.

Thanks, and take care,

Bill

We really enjoyed the food and extremely friendly atmosphere at Mr. Manatee's. Very casual. Tons of seafood options.

From the resort, go North to the light and turn left on 510 (over Wabasso bridge). Turn right on US-1 and go north for about 5 miles or so. Both Squid Lips and Capt. Hiram's are in Sebastian on the Indian River. Someone around here probably knows exactly how far it is. It took us around 15 - 20 minutes to get there from the resort. Hope that helps!

Last trip other guests recommended Bono's it is in Vero across from the Outback. Wonderful food. We got a combo platter for two for about $25 and brought home enough food for two other meals.

Squid Lips has an early bird special....we are trying that today at 4p. I'll post how that went.:goodvibes

Ok, back from Squid Lips. Now I know this restaraunt is highly recommended here on the disboards. However, being a native Marylander, growing up on lots of Maryland seafood, I kinda have to give this place a mediocre rating. The majority of fish selections were some sort of "tilapia" which is no comparison to flounder, red snapper, orange roughy, trout. The shrimp that I ate was "oak grilled". Ok, but I need steamed, or a shrimp salad, or scampi, etc. No crab cakes on the menu, only "crab mixed with seafood" dishes.:confused3 Prices a tad high for the quality of seafood. Most may have no problems, but if you are from the mid atlantic, used to "real" seafood, I would give this a pass.

Ozzie's Crab House :thumbsup2

I think its closed. We saw boards all over the windows. It's the one on "1", right? Just passed by it today. Closed up.

NOOOOOOOOO
A little part of me just died, it's so good I was thinking of eating there TWICE on my upcoming 4 night trip. Tears are dripping onto my keyboard right now.....

Yep, had a fire in January. They have said they will rebuild though.

Fire was in January and not reopened yet, it ain't lookin' good my friend. Sob....I can hardly bear the sadness.
