We're new DVC members with an AKL home resort. In 2009, we're planning a trip to DVC Vero Beach.

I've checked the DVC official website, but couldn't find detailed information about the DVC Vero Beach Resort. Can anyone provide insight to the following?:

What's there to do at the resort? Pool, Beach, Restaurants. Anything else? The website mentioned shopping. Is that onsite or nearby? Is there a movie theatre nearby?

Will we need a car for a five day trip? Or is everything pretty much right there?

What airports do you fly into. Is Palm Beach International too far away?

Any other DVC Vero Beach tips would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

IMO, you definitely need a rental car. The resort is right on the beach, and it is an absolutely beautiful beach at that. There is a pool on site, and although we didn't go in the pool, looks really neat. If it is relaxation you are looking for VB is the place for you. If you are looking for lots of stuff to do, maybe not. The resort itself is beautiful! You will have to drive to anything you want including movies etc... Be sure to look for Captain Hirams, which is about a 10 mile drive, but the hot wings are to die for, again IMO....

Airports, 6 of one half a dozen of another. West Palm is a tad bit closer than Orlando, but I like Orlando, only because it gives me an excuse to stop by WDW. :cool1:

Vero Beach is a resort for relaxation. Plain and simple. A rental car is a must.
There are a lot of interesting things to do nearby though, fishing at the Wabasso bridge, the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, and a decent size mall.

Another neat place to visit is Scooter's Barkery, where you can get a goodie bag for any furry children you left at home :thumbsup2
