I would like information about visiting Vero Beach during President's week. How is the weather? Are there a lot of activities going on? How easy or hard is it to book a 1BR at the 7 month mark? What airport do you use for Vero? Thanks for any information!

We were there over Presidents week.
Lots of activites, it depends on the age of your children. They have a nice campfire with smores every few days. DD 13 & DS 10 would rather go to the movies and pass on the smores. You can fish, bike ride, play tennis, basketball, crafts, swim, jetski and lots more all with in a 5 minute walk.
Weather in Florida is always a question mark. Over the past 4 years it has been nice between 75 and 80. Our last day this year it was 85. The other 3 days was overcast and 78 to 80.
Most people use MCO,(1:45-2:00) but PBI(1:30-1:45) is closer by about 15 minutes. Melborne has some flights, but it is a small airport. We book at 11 months, every year the resort has been full.
Any more ??

We went this year and was as DVCguy described. The resort was booked and was full of activity. We tend to go to FL during Feb. for the last 10 years (WDW & Captiva) and luckily have alway hit good weather. I believe the average high for VB on Pres. Wk. should be 74?. For us the sun is the big thing, and getting that FL sun is great. We truely miss the sun in Rochester NY in the winter. (I guess I didn't see as many clouds as DVCguy! There was fog in the morning.)

We were able to book our 2 OVIR at the 7 month mark with out the waitlist. I did call day-by-day at 9ish. I just remembered.... I think there were 1 bedrooms available the weekend as well. We were considering getting a 1 bedroom so I checked availability for Sat and Sun nights when I called for sunday.

We used MCO which was a direct & fairly cheap (for ROC) flight and combined it with a stay at the Poly. PBI is is about as far in the other direction. Melbourne (MLB) is much closer and smaller airport. Delta is the only large airline that flys there but it might work for some and save a lot of drive time.
