Next June. Kids will be 8,7 & 4.
We are torn ... which resort should we try first?
Dh did Hilton Head this year with the guys for a golf trip, but this time around, we're just looking for family fun for about 6 days.

More kid activities at Vero Beach. Its a great resort. We are members at VB and our children are now 19 and 21, they love going there to swim, play in some of the activities at resort. We are on our way in less than 18 days and we can not wait. JP:cool1:

Can't go wrong with either but for ages of your kids go to Hilton Head, beach is calmer than VB. Our 3 kids will always vote for HHI over VB, they loved it when they were younger and still love it. Like VB alot too but they prefer HHI (DH and I too). I'd have to disagree with pp that VB has more activities over HHI, plenty of activities at HHI for kids and for all ages at Disney's HHI resort and there is Tuesday night bbq and activities and Thursday is seafood boil at the beach house. I will try to find some threads and post links.

I agree, can't speak for VB but HHI is really an ultimate for a family vacation. It really is totally family oriented. Great place for family bonding!

We are doing a 3 night Kidani, then a 4 night Vero..I think Vero has an advantage over HH because you can combine a pre-relaxing VB vaca with a fun WDW vaca! I love the split resort idea!

HH looks quite lovely though! Only problem, is getting there from NY metro area! Not an easy one to fly to non-stop! I like flying non-stop! Years ago, I believe Continental used to fly into Savannah from Newark...Not so anymore to the best of my knowledge.

Enjoy either HH or VB!:goodvibes

I think HHI has more to offer for kids and even the surroundings offer more things to do off resort as well. Both are gorgeous though! my kids would pick HHI too!

You might have a hard time trying to get into HHI at the 7 month window. The seaon is shorter at HHI than Vero. Both resorts are great. Vero has the nicer pool and slide. HHI has the nicer beach.

Don't know where you're coming from or if you'd be flying or driving. Which one is the easiest to get to? We tried VB last summer for 3 nights to finish up post-WDW 7 nights. VB was beautiful but BOY was it quiet in comparison. We like to have a full day out at the beach / pool so we dine late and had a hard time finding places open past 9:00. Most places were 'bout ready to lock up when we got there around 8:30. The whole town literally rolled up the carpet. Since you have younger kids that probably won't apply to you... But we're trying HHI this summer in hopes of a little more action both on & off property.

We found the waves hit or miss at VB...one day almost too rough & the next nothing. Hoping for more consisentcy at HHI. The beach area at HHI definitely LOOKS to be a lot wider than VB so I like that we might be able to cop a squat in our own spot with some elbow room between us & the next guy. We were able to get in at both exactly at 9:00 am at the 7 mo. mark (for August). Good luck deciding.

I just returned from a week at HHI and went to VB last summer for a week. Both were great. I'm voting for VB due to the ease of getting to the beach. We are beach people and you have to drive or ride bikes over to the beach at HHI. Every afternoon when we arrived at the HHI beach area there was no parking. There is a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes but I was alone with the 2 kids and this was a hassle to haul all our beach gear and sit around waiting for the shuttle. It was so nice just to walk out to the beach at VB last summer. And when the tired of the beach a quick walk back to the pool or your room.

Staff at both are wonderful. Lots of activities for the kids at both places. Some of the activities seemd pretty similar at both; crafts, unbirthday party and Kids Nite Out. There seemed to be a difference in the structure of the Kids Nite out between the two places, however. They had Kids Nite out Monday, Wednesday and Saturday when we were at HHI recently. The Monday and Saturday were the exact same. Pizza in the community center and then board the shuttle to the local theater to watch Toy Story 3. On Wednesday the kids did something around the resort. At VB when they went to Kids Nite out it had more activities for the kids like crafts and games and each night was different. Forget if it was offered 3 nights or 4. I don't think it was each night, though.

Can't go wrong at either place. We all enjoyed both. My preference, due to the ease of getting to the beach is VB.

Vero & HHI are both great resorts but I feel Hilton Head has more activities than Vero. More dining options, golf & tennis, great fishing and sailing, horseback riding etc etc. In reality, you cannot go wrong with either. Try to visit both sooner or later. Have a great trip.:cool1::banana:

I'm really just going to expand on some of the other comments.

VB and HHI both have equal and great activities programs for kids. I think this is due to being off-property, they make it up with activities.

VB is REAL convenient in that the room, beach, and pool are like a 1 minute walk from one to the other. On the down side VB can have some rough surf that is too much for single digit kids to have fun in. Mom and Dad HAVE to watch them every minute while on the beach IMHO.

So, if you already are anal attentive parents you might enjoy the close proximity of everything at VB. It is nice to be able to move to and from the room, pool, and beach with ease.

HHI has a lot more shaded areas around the resort. They have a great abundance of wildlife within the resort. They also have a lot more off site entertainment and restaurant options nearby.

All said, I would suggest your first stay at one of these exceptional resorts should be HHI. In a couple years try VB. Then VB is good until your oldest is about 16 and HHI will be more desirable to the older teens.

JMHO. :)
