We are planning our first VB trip this September and know basically nothing about the resort. How far is it from WDW? What about restaraunts? Activities? I usually rely on ALEARS.NET for info, but there is not alot there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are traveling with our 8 MO daughter, but DM is going to help so we can have some time alone. Thanks in advance,

Scott

VB is about an hour and a half drive from WDW.

There are two restaurants on site - one casual and one formal - as well as a pool-side snack bar and a linge serving food. We've had good food from all of them :thumbsup2

There's a good resort description here

Thanks guys, I have to say I was really not looking forward to trying VB, I felt like I was "wasting" good points we could be using on property. My wife insisted and now that I have spent some time on the VB thread, I think we will really enjoy it. Thanks again,

Scott

You won't be wasting points. Vero Beach is the best kept secret within DVC. Can't wait till I can book for April 2008.

That's why we're here.

I'm guessing on your return from Vero that you will realize just how brilliant a woman your wife truly is. :cool2:

It really is a great, relaxing, beautiful place. Just made our reservations for March 9-14 2008 (7 month window and no problem getting Ocean View INN Room). We are middle age with no small kds but we always notice what a great time the little ones are having in the pool, on the slide, at the campfire. It really is a great place for all ages. (I know your 8 month old is not ready for these things yet...) but you will have a wonderful time. Take some time to learn a little about the Treasure Coast and the interesting tales of the Spanish ships that ran aground right near the Disney resort! Very interesting.

We staying in a Beach Cottage at VB last March.... all I can say is WOW!
What a beautiful place; so relaxing! There are tons of organized activities for kids and on the weekends there is a DJ at the pool.
If you want quiet time, you can walk the beach or go for a bike ride (rentals are available).
The restaurants on site are good and there are also some excellent ones not far away. We really like Captain Hiram's

Enjoy

Thanks again everyone, the more I find out about the resort, the more excited I get. Do you think we need to make dining reservations? We are going second week of Sept., being there on a mon-Wed.

Sounds like we'll be there the same time. :) I can't wait to get back to Vero. As far as dining reservations, my philosophy is that it is always better to be safe than sorry.
