Are there supervised activites for 3 yr olds? We definately need time alone! We have the opportuntiy to go and rent a studio or a 1 bedroom for the week of spring break. Thought this was a good way for us to decide to join the DVC or not. We are a family of 4 and not sure which room to rent. it is about a $1000 price differnece --are the 1 bedrooms worth it? Which airport should we fly into? And one more thing: Do we have to rent a car?

I would definitely get the one bedroom with 2 kids for a week. You will have a full kitchen, washer/dryer, jacuzzi tub, etc and much more space than a studio. I think it is easiest to fly into Orlando airport and you will need a rental car as it is almost a 2 hour ride. Good Luck.

Yes, with 2 kids a 1 bdrm is defintely worth it! We stayed there in a studio a few weeks back. (Had to conserve some pts.) We normally get a 1 bdrm and last year we took the inlaws and had a 2 bdrm. We were cramped with the studio. I also didn't like having to do the laundry outside of the room, but it wasn't that bad. I swam while I washed the clothes and no one else was using it so I could 2 loads at once. Our 2 yo and 9 yo DD's were with us. The 2 yo slept in a pack n play because it took FOREVER (I mean like until 8 months ago for my oldest to sleep alone in her room) so we are trying to avoid the 2 yo from getting attached like my older one did. Anyway, the only time we will get another studio is to make conserve pts or when the kids are out of the house. Once you stay in a 1 bdrm you won't want to stay in a studio. Now, I'd get 2 studios next to each other if I could, but the 1 bdrm is spacious! Rental car? Yes, at SSR you do a lot of walking..depending where they put you. The Paddock is really close to..nothing. With a young child I'd defintely get the car!! HTH.

I wouldnt make the decision on joining DVC based on a stay at Vero beach unless you are a Disney veteran and are only looking to see what the accommodations and dining etc on the resort are like. I think the area is too different from WDW where the majority of the resorts are.

And yes you will need a car unless you are happy to sit around the pool all day (or spend time at the beach - the sea is lovely but the beach is steep and the water gets deep quickly). I also think the on-site restaurants are not as good as some of the other DVC places and don't remember off site ones in easy walking distance.

my thoughts EXACTLY! Vero is not very Disney-ish (which for some people is a GOOD thing!!!). We actually got excited about DVC as a result of a Hilton Head stay (which also is not NEARLY as chock full of stuff to do as WDW DVC resorts) ...of course, we had also stayed at Disney several times so knew what that offered DVC members since we had stayed at their HOME AWAY FROM HOME villa -type accommodations on a number of trips before HH.Old Key West is our home now and we love it! Not sure your Vero trip will "sell" you on the DVC concept...but you never know!

Not sure, but I think :scratchin that the age limit for supervised activities is 4yrs old. Do check with other's here on the Dis or the front desk at VB. They do have supervised activities though...the un-birthday party is one and I know they also have a kids club in the evenings that includes dinner so that the adults can go out ....again though, I think it was age 4 and up. They may have in room baby sitting though for the younger aged children...not sure.:confused3

Yes..definetly the 1 bdrms are worth it. Especially at Vero - We cook for ourselves with the full kitchen that you get with a 1bdrm. Vero only has 2 on sight resturaunts and then there are some off sight ones(not Disney owned of course)....but even so, we tend to cook more to save on meals instead of having to eat out for every meal. Not everyone likes to cook but for us it was a big plus. :) Also, you get so much more space and privacy with a 1bdrm. You can put the kids to bed at night and still be able to be up at night without disturbing them. And of course you're not all on top of one another ;) The in room w/d is also a big plus if you'll be there for a longer stay....and lets not forget the huge jacuzzi tub and king size bed. All ammenities you need to stay in a 1bdrm or larger to get :teeth: Studios are nice if you are trying to save pts or are only there for a shorter stay....esp. if you won't spend much time in the room accept for to sleep but at Vero since you aren't at the parks all day...you may spend more time in the villa. Something else to keep in mind that may help make your decision.

If you won't be going to WDW itself.....the closest airport I think is Melbourne. Some say Orlando though is just as convenient to fly into as Melbourne. And yes, as far as I know, you'll need a rental car unless you can find a car/shuttle service to get you to and from the resort :confused3 But....unless you plan on spending absolutely all of your time at the resort and not leaving at all, you'll want to have a car. Vero is beautiful but alot more quiet than being at the WDW resorts in the parks. If nothing else, you'll almost definetly want to venture out either to go to off sight resturaunts (try Captain Hiram's...it's awesome :teeth: ) or to go for groceries or even the few off sight activities . But I'm pretty sure you'll want to be able to venture out one way or another ;)

I appreciate all your replys. The only reason we are thinking of staying at VEro is that it had availability during spring break and we want a beach! Does not sound like thereis a lot to do. We are trying to save $ and do not usually rent a car on vacatioan, so VB may not be the best place. Does anyone know the # for the front desk at VB?

I have our Activities Guide for this past May (13th-19th). The Discovery Club is the supervised evening activity. It is for ages 4-12 from 5-8pm and was offered on M,W,F and Sa of the week we were there. While skiming through the 2 pages of activities there were about 2-4 things each day that were either appropiate for a 3 year old w/parent or the family that included a 3 year old.

We are looking for somea lone time at the beach etc. Is there a disney kids club on the premises that will look after the kids for an hour or 2? Any organized activities during the day?
