Vero Beach in February

Hi all,

We will be in WDW President's week. (We were there this year and the weather was nice!) We are considering starting our vacation in Vero Beach. I am a little concerned about the weather at the Beach. Has anyone here gone to Vero during President's week? What is the ocean water like? The pool? What do you do if it is too chilly to swim?

I spent a week in Vero last January and I'm going back for 4 nights this January. There were few people in the ocean, and my pool time was limited because of the air temps, but the hot tub was great!

I was with a friend, we did sightseeing in the area, Ft. Pierce, Pelican Island, went to see Manatees in a Florida state park, did a Dolphin tour with the Environmental learning center, and did some of the activites offered at the resort. We had fun making jumbo Bubbles. My friend enjoyed walking on the beach a lot. I enjoyed the banjo player, mini golf. It was perfect weather for bike riding.

I could easily stay for a week again this year, but I have other friends joining us who want WDW.

We are booked at Vero Beach for the last week in January on our way to BCV. It will be our first trip to Vero Beach with the exception of stopping for lunch back in 2003. Don’t know what to expect but will take into consideration what Bobbi has done.

As the other poster mentioned, there are a few others things to do in the area, but not a lot. It's a good possibility that the weather will be a little cool for swimming, but might be good for sitting in the sun enjoy a book, play cards, minigolf, etc. Our family hasn't gone to VB in several years because there is just too much to do in WDW when the weather isn't warm and sunny.

I live on the west coast of FL and Feb can be a gamble. It's been cold (in the 60's during the day and 40's at night) and it's been on the warm side. Last year was a very warm Feb.

FL people would NEVER swim in the water in Feb but many people from up north do. The water temp is usually below 70 that time of year. If we have a warm winter, you might get it closer to the 70 mark. If we have a cold winter (by FL standards) it will be in the 60's maybe mid to high 50's.

You definately want to bring jackets with your shorts.
I've never stayed at Vero but know that immediately in the area, there isn't a ton to do. If you are renting a car, you can drive to some other areas to explore the east coast of FL.
