Hi everyone,

I've searched the threads on Vero Beach and it looks lovely :) but possibly 1 week might be too long for us.

Would 4 nights (prior to a cruise) be about right?

What can you tell me about Vero Beach? This will be in August (so hot hot hot!!!) but we know that and are accustomed to the heat / humidity in Orlando in August. I'm hopeful the sea breeze may slightly alleviate the heat :)

I fancy the relaxation the resort seems to offer and also the multitude of activities for children.

Many thanks for any help,

Karen

All of the above assumes we would be able to get a booking at 7 months for the end of August when surprisingly it is quite cheap point wise to stay (surprising to me, anyway :))

LOL Karen - as we now know, hurricane season starts in August!! But by the law of averages, I reckon you should be okay next year ;)

I love the place - but only ever go for 2, 3 or 4 days. It is beautiful as you've probably heard and with lovely rooms but apart from the activities for children (and I think adults love the night-time songs by the camp fire just as much) I think it is the R & R which appeals to adults. There is often a singer in the Green Cabin room in the evening which is a low-key, friendly affair.

Vero Beach resort is actually closer to the town of Sebastian than Vero Beach itself where you will find - hold on now for the excitement - a Wal-Mart and a Publix! For other retail therapy there is the Indian River Mall at Vero Beach (on SR 60), which is a bit Florida-Mall-like-without-the-Brits.

There is an environmental learning centre at Wabasso, very very close to the resort (haven't been yet) and there is the McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach (had it not been for a lady named Frances I should have been able to tell you all about this one ;) )

In Vero Beach there's a power station where manatees can be sighted swimming in the warm waters.

But best of all, is the sound of the sea, and the way the resort looks on warm, fine nights ::yes:: Any specific questions you can think of, just ask oh lady of the pixie dust :wave2:

Great place to stay ::yes:: and the green cabin with its views over the atlantic, chill with a few beers pirate: Fish at Sebastian inlet or just have a picnic there. Shop at the oulets/mall

Try Hales for some tastes of Florida orange/grapefriut juices.

3-4nts sounds about right.

Hows that ;) need any help let me know!!!!!!!

That's it Moira, I'll have to go now :teeth: LOL

Thank you very much both for your input, we are definitely liking the idea of VB for a few days before a cruise now!
