This is for all you Vero Beach People!

I have a 2 bedroom booked at Vero for August 3 and 4 (Sunday and Monday) and am waitlisted for a cottage. Has anyone had any experience and success in getting one of these for that time frame?

Also, I asked to be notified if a cottage would be available. Can I assume they will contact me by mail as soon as one becomes available or will they notify me when we get there?

Thanks!!!

Hi, Pinnie. First off, let me say that I think you will enjoy Vero.
We were at Vero for 3 nights last September, and we stayed in a beach cottage. We were able to book a cottage with MS for the first 2 nights, and we waitlisted for the third (booked 2br as backup). It was obvious that only 2 or 3 of the cottages were occupied during our stay. On the second morning the front desk called, and said we could stay in the cottage for the third night instead of moving to our 2br (we were charged more points of course). The front desk manager said that within the last few days they can waive the non-declared inventory rules. Perhaps that means that many of the cottages are not declared inventory, and they reserve them for cash rentals?
It was also obvious that on that particular night, that only 3 of the cottages were occupied, including ours. I was completely confused as to why our waitlist never came through when 4 of the 6 cottages would have been empty. There were no obvious signs of maintenance on the empty cottages.

Not sure if this really answered your Q, but thought I'd pass along the info......

Thank you Master Gracey!

I appreciate your help and it looks like there may be some hope for us!

Our group is really looking forward to our days at Vero. We will be at WDW for a few days before the Vero visit and then head back to OKW for 5 nights afterwards for Drum Corp finals!

I don't understand why you weren't notified sooner either!!!

Pinnie, I don't want to get your hopes up too high, as I am sure August is much busier than September (resort was very slow).

The funny thing is that I actually like the 2br better than the cottages. The cottages are impressive outside, and very big inside, but it feels 'empty'....like it echoed when you spoke. The 2br has a much cozier feel, in my opinion. We only had four people though, so more people may make it better.

Have Fun......

We got one last August for 3 nights with no problem. We tried to add a 4th night and couldn't get it so we stayed in a 2 BR and a studio for 1 night and then moved to the BC. This was our second stay in one and they are gorgeous!

MasterGracey,

Oh I am positive I won't be disappointed with whatever we end up with at Vero!!!

We have 6 in our party and we will be fine in a 2 bedroom but were excited about possilby getting a cottage for those 2 nights. I'll just be cautiously optimistic.

Thanks, Jenn for your reply, too!
