Hi,

It is our first time at Vero Beach. Any ideas for casual dining in the area?

Thanks,

Thank you for your help.

We are looking forward to our trip!!

Capt. Hirams and Country Eggs and Ham are good in Sebastain.
Carry out from Orchid Isle next door to the resort.
Bonos, Mulligans, Jack Baker's and alot of chains in Vero.

Enjoy

We just came back from VB ... really like Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty in Vero Beach - I had a fried shrimp dinner; DH had the Apricot Chicken dinner ... both were excellent and a good value.

Enjoy!!

I second the vote for Cap't Hiram's - on the water, open air, fun place, decent food, cold drinks - what more could one want?!

Thanks for the info iloveokw, dvcbrad. Sarahtink, coming from New England you must have been impressed with the seafood!!

I feel like we have been in a WDW rut. We love it so much we haven't varied at all. We are looking forward to a change being right on the ocean.

We are looking forward to visiting this resort and restaurants in the area. :goodvibes

LindaBabe, Squidlips!!! the name is hilarious!! What did you order?

I was down there in early September. We were very pleased with the price and quality of the meals right at Shutters. (We had dinner there once and breakfast twice.)

We also really enjoyed the Riverside Cafe, which is on the water and not all that far away. If you go, be sure to order the New England clam chowder. The ribs were good, too.

We went to a small Jamaican inspired restaurant last spring that I thought was great. It's called Mo-Bay Grill and is located in Sabastian in a plaza near Wal-mart.

We also like to go to Capt. Hirams Sand Bar. The kids love the sand floor and we like the view. We usually order pub food so can't comment on the quality of the dining room food. However, the drinks are very good!

We also like to order pizza from right next door at Orchid Island Pizza and eat it on the beach or deck for one dinner. Can't beat the view!;)

Hey Lisa :flower3: , I was trying to find your slick map of restaurant locations, etc., but don't seem be able to locate it. Maybe you could post it here. Can't remember if you posted it on the new VB thread too.

My DS, and DDIL (who is of a fishing family in Alaska), both really liked Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty. They are pretty picky about the seafood and the price... so I think I can second this recommendation.

Thanks for all of your help. BillPA wow what a list. I am going to read all the reviews and make sure i remember to bring my GPS!

Mr. Manatees (right down the street from Jack Baker's Lobster Shack which we also tried and thought was mediocre though they give you LOTS of food it's pretty ordinary) and Squid Lips in Sebastian (great views out on the end of the pier).

We are New Englanders so we stay away from lobster in Florida but loved the grouper and snapper at these other two places.
