FWIW, we flew into Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed a split stay between Pompano Beach and Vero Beach. The drive between the two was a pleasant "day trip" along A1A for much of the ride.Vero Beach does not have commercial airline service available at the airport. The closest commercial airline service available is Melbourne International Airport, Orlando International Airport, or Palm Beach International Airport.
Aircraft charter service is available locally at the Vero Beach Airport through one of our Fixed Base Operators.
I think the best and easiest is West Palm Beach.
It really depends where you are coming from. There appears to be lots of non-stop flights to West Palm Beach from cities in the Eastern US. For those further away (like Chicago), a connection is needed. Last time I looked, fares to West Palm Beach from Chicago were much higher than going into Orlando.
You really can't get a direct flight out of Chicago(Ohara or Midway) into West Palm?
Nope. Just double checked Orbitz and Southwest. Everything is a connection.
what airport do u use when going to vero beach?
thx

My mapping program says 1:37.
We are going there in a few weeks, spending our first night at a hotel near MCO airport. In the morning we'll drive, but will drive all the way to the coast and take A1A south. Looks like a nicer drive than I-95, but I'm sure longer.
I am in Potomac MD, so I can use any of our airports, BWI, IAD or DCA.
Thanks for the help!!

Hmmm... I think that is about right for going down I95. A1A is longer by about 30 minutes, but it is the right way to go. Figure 2 hours + a bit for that trip.
A1A lets you see the ocean and towns and is just much happier.... less stressful.
