We are thinking about switching our cell phone service from US Cellular to Verizon. I would love to hear from those of you currently using Verizon...the good, the bad and the ugly (but hopefully not too much ugly)! :)

Tell me whether this is a good choice for us. TIA!

Hey I have verizon and absolutely love the service and the phones they are getting. One negative is the pricing is a little high but it's worth it for the service coverage you get. They have some wonderful android phones and some more great ones coming soon.

Coverage can't be beat, at least around us.

Verizon likes to nickel-and-dime you though, charging for almost anything they can think of. They recently redid all their plans, and now if you have any sort of web-capable phone (now called "multimedia" phone) they require at least a $9.99 data plan - $29.99 if it's a "smartphone" like a Droid, Blackberry, etc.

I've had Verizon for about 5 years now and it is the best wireless service I've ever had !!!
I always have a good signal and my phone always works well.
I don't think you'll be sorry for going with Verizon :)

the best thing about verizon is the coverage. i rarely get a dropped call. usually only in warehouse stores and target/walmart type stores.

I've had Verizon for about 15 years now (through all of their name changes) and love their service.
I basically live in the woods and it is the only provider that works at my house. When I am anywhere else in my town, or the whole Philly area- coverage is quick and clear.

I love their phone choices too. I have the Droid and my DH and 2 sons have nice Internet capable phones.
The mobile to mobile is nice too- no minutes used if you are talking to another Verizon phone!

Good choice! :thumbsup2

I think Verizon has the best coverage of any wireless company. As much as I want and iPhone (and I really do want an iPhone!), I/m not willing to give up Verizon to get one. So I have a Touch instead.

Me too...I started out with ATT and HATED the service. The coverage was terrible and calls were constantly dropped. I switched to Verizon and never looked back. Excellent service, no dropped calls and their customer service has been top notch every time I've dealt with them.

I also have serious iPhone envy...but not enough to switch.

I have had Verizon for several years. Almost 2 years ago I switched to AT&T to get the iPhone. At the time Verizon didn't have any smartphones worth looking at. At least nothing comparable to the iPhone.

I have now switched back to Verizon.

The iPhone is a wonderful phone. Too bad it's on AT&T.

I wanted out of AT&T so bad I did an early termination of my contract. I then bought an HTC Droid Incredible. This phone is everything the iPhone is and more.

Just today, I was streaming an online radio station, checking my email, download daily activity reports from work. All at the same time. The multitasking is phenomenal. Yep, the iPhone 4 will have multitasking but I have it now and it works!

Verizon's coverage is awesome no matter where I go. Their service plans are really not any more expensive than AT&T and Verizon still has unlimited data whereas AT&T is now capping data at 2GB (existing accounts are grandfathered).

I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't go with Verizon except if you absolutely, positively wanted an iPhone, even if it meant having to deal with AT&T.

We've used a bunch of other carriers including AT&T and T-Mobile, but we love the service we have with Verizon the best. Our most important issue is can we actually make or receive a call when we really need to? The answer is almost always yes with Verizon...not so with the other carriers. We've been considering purchasing iphones for a few years, but we can't afford to lose calls, and since we've already been down that road with AT&T, we've stuck with Verizon. They are a little pricey, but we kind of feel like we have no other viable choice. We'll be upgrading at least some of our phones and renewing our contract this weekend.

Good luck with your choice!

I can only agree with the above posters. Where we live Verizon provides the best coverage. Period. I'm totally itching for an iPhone but refuse to switch to AT&T. My DH and I both need to be reachable 24/7 (for work) so having reliable service is a must.

I just switched from Nextel to verizon (Finally got off my work phone). So far I love it! It is light years ahead of my previous coverage. I actually found the pricing very fair and am saving a lot of money over what I (my work) was paying for my blackberry. As a school employee I get 19 percent off my bill each month!!

Now, on top of that, my Droid Incredible is AWESOME!!

I have Verizon, and I have absolutely no complaints. I would LOVE to get an iphone, but I've heard the coverage is not so great in my area. I can't wait to see the new Droid X that Verizon will be announcing next week. I think I'll stick with Verizon and get the X.

Good tip, dpuck...DH is a teacher, so we'll have to look into that discount. Thanks!

Thanks everyone, for the great response!

While I look forward to hearing from more of you, so far it looks like we might be visiting verizon tomorrow to make the switch. :)

I dropped more calls in my first day with AT&T than I did in 10 years with Verizon.

Verizon's coverage was fantastic. I didn't realize until I switched how badly some other companies can suck.

As much as I adore the iPhone, I am going to give up on it and switch back to Verizon.

I guess I'm going to have a be a small voice of dissent here...

Absolutely agree about the coverage - it can't be beat! Very few dropped calls with Verizon, which was much better than my old Cingular coverage.

That being said - I have not had good phone experiences with Verizon. My phone is less than a year old, and it wouldn't hold a charge for four hours. Went to the store, got that fixed, now, my phone won't connect to the internet - which makes my unlimited data plan kind of pointless...

Oh well, maybe it will get straightened out eventually!

That isn't really verizons fault, the phone is the issue, they don't make the phones. You should go in and get a new one and have them replace it.

Oh, no! What is the Droid X? We were leaning toward Incredibles...should we wait longer, now?

Droid X is made by Motorola. It's Motorola's response to the HTC Incredible.

Not much "official" information out there right now but it seems like the specs are very similar to the Incredible.

HTC, in my opinion, makes a better phone than Motorola. I would still go with the Incredible.
