Verizon prepaid?

So, I switched over to Verizon (contract) and am already thinking ahead when the contract ends.

If I want to do Verizon prepaid, am I limited to the phones they have on their website? Or can I find a no-contract phone from Verizon and use that? Is there a time requirement for the no-contract phone (that is, it can't have been a contract phone for x number of months before it's used for prepaid)?

I use a pre-paid plan from Verizon called "Unleashed". I am limited to the 3 phones available for the pre-pay plan. I get unlimited talk, text and web for $50 month.

I asked this a couple of weeks ago when I was in the store getting my dad a phone and the Verizon guy said once a contract phone has been used for 6 months it can be hooked up to a pay as you go plan.
