Anyone heard about this? I like the concept, but I don't think it will save me any money because of the bundles. I would want basic, news, kids, and pop culture (Bravo) even though I really only watch three cable channels (HGTV, Bravo, and a news channel) plus the kids watch Disney. I'll check it out on Sunday though and see if there is any savings.

I did read about this and wondered what the details would be, and whether the concept would spread to other cable services.

Interesting! We have FiOS for internet, but no cable TV or home phone (just cell phones.) I'd like to see the basic cost on this.

I've used Sling TV since it started in January, and I love it. $20 for 20 or so channels, including HGTV and Disney Channel, plus there are some add on packages. I really like it for the fact that there's no contract.

I found I wasn't using it too much since the weather has been nicer, so I cancelled it for this month. When it starts getting really hot out, I'll probably sign back up. I love that flexibility. The only channel I really wish it has is Comedy Central, but I don't see that happening... though most of that stuff is on Hulu, so it's not a huge deal.

I'm interested in seeing what the package is. We only watch certain channels here - hoping it will cut down the cost of our monthly bill.

Me too. Just seems like each channel I watch is in a different bundle. I'm hoping I can save at least $10/month. I'll find out on Sunday I guess.

Find it funny that just before this was announced Xfinity came to our door wanting us to switch back. I'm not expecting it to save us any money but it would be a nice surprise. They make it so that the TV and phone portion as such a small portion of the bill because everyone "needs" internet!

I know. Everytime I call to drop my landline I'm told my bill would go up. I don't need tv and I have started reading a lot, but it's still worth it given my bill wouldn't be much smaller since I have to have internet.

Comcast tried to feed me the same BS that if I canceled my cable and just kept the internet that my bill would go up. I said fine then cancel everything. They tried to bait me with a lower price for 6 months and I refused. I said I wasn't interested in a temporary discount and that I wasn't going to pay anymore than $40 per month. We were able to come to terms and my bill has stayed at $39.95 for the last five years.

I logged in to see if I could save any money by switching to custom TV. I could save $5/month if I went from 235 channels to 30 channels. Needless to say, I stuck with my current plan.

We have had the exact same problem with Comcast. They plan to raise our rate if we drop to just internet. I am very interested in your ability to get them to this price (and that they stick with it). Do you mind telling me what part of the country you are in? We are central Illinois --not sure if location makes any difference with Comcast?

This whole thing reminds of when the old Disney tickets were phased out and Magic Your Way came on the scene. They talked it up as if it would save people money by only paying for the options they use. Prior to that ALL tickets were hoppers and never expired. You simply chose Park Hoppers or Park Hopper Plus which had water park entitlements also.
Now, to add those options it's ridiculous $. Not that you could even get no-exp now but even last time I priced them it would be cheaper to just buy another ticket and hold onto it.
Eventually they charge just as much $ and gradually give you less. All the while have you feeling like you made your choices to save $.
What a bunch of crap. :sad2:

I am in Seattle. First thing you need to do is not rent the modem from Comcast. They were charging $7 per month for that when I got rid of it 7 years ago. I am not sure how much they are charging now days but $7 per month on a piece of equipment that I bought myself for $50 was outrageous. I also get a lower speed but it is still plenty fast for web surfing and I used it for streaming too.
