We are in the process of having this installed. I should have asked before though. Anyone have any feedback/comments?
I will say that they do not tell you ahead of time what is involved with the whole process - only that an 18 yr. old needs to be home - which is fine - you do not want to leave a minor BUT an 18 yr. old should not have to make major decisions regarding where to install equipment inside and outside - again no mention of this. My son called me at work a few times and in turn we had to call my husband at work.
They tell you it takes a few hours and make it sound like most of the work will be done outside.
They do not tell you to choose a spot inside your home before they come to install this box and a separate battery pack that must be plugged in at all times.
They do not tell you that they will install a huge gray box on the siding of your home. About 4 times bigger than your phone box.
It was an all day (4 pm) project. Make no plans for any time of the day. They will need to drill holes in two different parts of your foundation to bring cables/wires to your computer - (sorry for tech terminology).
Anyway - when my husband got home HE FLIPPED when he saw the humungous box on the side but almost to the front of the house - He told the tech straight out - get the box down, move it or take it away and replace my siding. This is not an apartment building. After calling his boss - four additional people came to investigate -
Another all day project tomorrow - they will take it down and install it inside the house tomorrow - probably next to the other two things they installed which are in a small area where our sewer trap (?) is (small enclosed area).
I told them - you do not make your customers aware of this because they would tell you no, thank you. Not sure if it is worth the hassle. Will have siding replaced and Verizon will pay for it. They did not seem surprised when my husband did not like the box - now that I told my sister - she tells me she is hearing stories that people are not happy.
Again, I should have asked before. Any similar problems? Is it worth it? Perhaps for my sons - but not for me. I am hoping to close down one phone line (had dial-up) and cancel aol unless I can get a $10 a month plan.
Thanks for listening if you got this far.
