Verizon dsl and router?

Are there only certain routers that can work with verizon dsl? I have a D-link and I am having a hard time to get it working. I get get on line fine with just the modem, but when I attach the router, I can no longer get on line. I'vd checked everything, I think, and I am just wondering if it might by the router.

We have a D-Link wireless router and had lots of trouble with it. After numerous tech support calls to both Verizon and D-Link (they were both blaming the other for the problems) D-Link set us straight, NOT Verizon.

Ever since we switched over to DSL w/Verizon, we had one problem after another for a good 3 months.

Knock wood, all seems to finally be okay!
