Verizon customers - Recommend a phone please

Another vote for the Droid! I was also at the DCI show last week in Minneapolis and was able to use my droid in the stairwell during the tornado warning while a friend with an iPhone could not get a signal.

It's just for new users. YOu should have had an update to 2.1 this past week.

No true. 2.2 will be made available for Droid shortly. It will be sent to your phone automatically. It is already available if you want to get super technical, I've had it on my Droid for almost 2 months now.

Phones that have had the manufacture officially announce they will be getting Android 2.2 for Verizon are Droid 1, Droid X, and Droid Incredible. Droid 2 will come with 2.2 already on it. LG Ally may be able to upgrade. Droid Eris and Moto Devour most likely won't be getting the upgrade.

2.2 is desirable because of the huge performance increases it brings. It also enables flash for webpages, turns your phone into a wifi hotspot, and improves the interface. Lots of other small improvements that for some are big deals like voice dial over bluetooth and Exchange calendar support.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions.

I thought I put in my original post I need to upgrade b/c my phone is no longer holding a charge so it is slowly dying........So, it's not a matter of upgrading just b/c my 2 yrs is up. It is b/c my phone is not as good as it used to be and I'm ready for something new.

I might try to hold out (if I can) until the new Droid is out and then see which one I want to get. I have the VZ navigator on mine right now and when coming the 3 droids out there now, only 1 of them has VZ navigator which I find kind of strange. Do these other phones have their own navigation system or application for navigation????

Also, some have questioned the $50 or $100 off for new every 2. When I go online to Verizon, it is giving me $100 for the new every 2, not $50. You can see how much the phone will cost, etc. online.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

The amount you receive at renewal ($100 or $50) depends on the price of your current plan. The lesser expensive plans give you $50 and the more premium plans give you $100 at upgrade. The OP may be grandfathered into the $100 credit because her plan at the time was considered a premium plan.

Just got a lg ally on Saturday and love it. Of the lower priced droid phones it had the best user reviews.

WE WERE THERE TOO!!! We had the same experience, many parents that were there were trying to contact their kids and none of the kids with IPhones could be reached but all the kids with other phones could. Most of our high school marching band were there for the camp before the show and were so disappointed that they couldn't march. I was disappointed that I shelled out $70 and didn't get to see any good bands :lmao:.
