Monday 4th August.
Well, it will come as no surprise that I was wide awake at 5am, followed soon by Evie. Simon was less keen about waking up, but Evie and I persuaded him he should!
I was up and showered by 6 and over to the food court for some hot chocolate and cherry danishes (oh my those things are just SO good!
).
By 7.45 we were out to the car to get to MK for the opening ceremony, I have never seen this so was quite determined I had to do this on this trip. At 8.30 we were on the monorail and had a short wait for the ceremony. Im not ashamed to say that I shed a few tears during this. Evie was just transfixed and squealed with excitement when she saw Mickey. What a great way to start a day!
As we walked through entrance Pluto had just appeared so we were at the front of the queue, Evies little legs almost span round with excitement, it was just wonderful! Prior to the trip I was quite apprehensive as to whether she would like the characters, obviously I had no concerns!
After photos with Pluto we walked up Main Street and High Foured all the CMs that lined the street.
After grabbing the Photopass guy for our first photo we headed for our first ride and Evies favourite IASW. Then over to Ariels Grotto to meet the Little Mermaid, she was more shy with Ariel than Pluto, not sure why!
We then went on Dumbo, with just a 20 minute wait and then the carousel with just 10 minutes. We were pretty pleased to have had such a successful start to the day, but Simon was grumbling that he was hungry and Evie was hot and thirsty so we went into Cosmic Rays and ended up sharing some childrens meals to keep us going till Boma that evening.
After food we headed into ToonTown and went in Minnies house, then to Donalds boat. By this point we could see Evie was majorly flagging and we didnt want any major melt downs, so we headed out. We took the ferry back, after approx 30 seconds in the car Evie was fast asleep!! So we took the opportunity to have a drive and headed down the 192 to find a Walmart. I nipped in for essentials: juice, beer, Mountain Dew, Chips Ahoy and Oreos!!!
Once back at POFQ Evie was awake and much happier, we spent a happy afternoon with Evie splashing in the little pool, she didnt feel brave enough for the big pool yet!
There was a message for us that there was something at the front desk for us so I sent Simon to get the package Id arranged for them. They were thrilled! It contained a Minnie cup, purse and Minnie dressed as Cinderella for E. And a lanyard with 4 pins and a jedi Mickey for S.
After showering and changing we headed over to AKL for our ressie at BOMA. We were a little early so wandered round the lobby and then up to the bar for a Gowtini, yum, and S & E share a fruit smoothie of some sort.
Our ADR was at 5.45 and we were seated at 6.05. We really loved the food here, it was delicious, especially the soups! I also loved the famous Zebra Domes!!
After a successful dinner we went to the Savannah and were amazed to see lots of animals, what a fantastic resort! After the Savannahh we went to the shop where Simon bought some Mickey Crocs (Simon who hates Crocs I should add!), and three pins; and Evie got a plush Tinkerbell.
By 8.30 we were back in our room, thoroughly exhausted, but happy after the most wonderful first day!
Tomorrow: The pool and EPCOT.
