I have read the beginning of this thread and have done reading elsewhere. I just want to make sure I don’t have anything else to do so our trip goes smooth. We will be in Disney 1/3-1/12 booked with a vacation package. We have booked park reservations through the 8th. The 9th starts the new program and we could not get park reservations because of this in the site which makes sense. Since we have a package I just want to make sure nothing further is needed for me to do the 9th-12th so our trip runs smoothly. Am I missing anything I should be doing to assure we get into the parks we want to once the things change on the 9th?

Park reservations for date based tickets will no longer be needed after January 9th. Here's what it says in Disney's site:

Starting with visits on January 9, 2024, theme park reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets. A date-based ticket requires you to choose a start date when you purchase.
For other admission types, theme park reservations may be required.

No Theme Park Reservation Required

  • Date-based 1-day ticket
  • Date-based multi-day ticket
  • Vacation package with date-based tickets

I just booked a solo trip to Disney World for January 15th - 21st and tried to get park reservations and couldn't. I initially thought my travel agent/agency forgot to apply my deposit, which meant I thought I lost the reservation. In a panic I checked with my travel agent and she confirmed that park reservations are not needed. I also checked the website to read for myself. Hope this helps.

Looks like you are set as far as the parks go. No further action required there.

I’m wondering how VQs will work after park reservations are removed. Will everybody with an active ticket be able to try at 7 am?

You have done all you need to do. However, just a reminder that Disney’s IT can sometimes be unreliable, so don’t be surprised if there is a glitch or two on the first day of the new policy. There’s nothing you can do to get rid of that possibility.

SCREENSHOT! SCREENSHOT! SCREENSHOT!
As a previous poster has mentioned, glitches are plentiful with Disney tech, so screenshot important details (Park Tickets, Lodging confirmation, Dining reservations, Genie+ purchases etc.). If you are using your phone, make an album/folder in your photos or as a file. If you are on a laptop or desktop, ctrl and ps simultaneously for a screenshot then paste it on a doc.
Have a blast!
