I have been reading the posts about people who have had the partially obstructed Verandah's and am now REALLY WORRIED about what ours will be. I tried looking at the pics people have mentioned and it LOOKS like I will have a full view and the plexi side on ours but can anyone help me to calm my nerves on this one????? We are Category 6 Delux Stateroom with Verandah room # 6616 if anyone knows could you please post it here so I can either RELAX or try and call and see what I can do to get it changed..............Thanks:confused:

But you should be fine... from what I understand the verandahs with the "obstructed views" are the ones toward the ends of the ship...

You should be fine...I looked on my map and you are right outside the elevator lobby and your verandah is plexiglass....we stayed in 6610 last year (other side of the ship, but same general area)..we loved it....plexiglass verandah and close enough to the elevators.

we were in room 6134 for our last 7-day cruise and here is the scoop on the obstructed view:

all the verandahs we have had on our cruises (3 so far) have had plexiglass on the bottom half of the verandah covering the railing so stuff doesn't blow through the rails, etc. you can still see through the plexiglass.

in room 6134 the obstruction is some curved metal (floor to ceiling) that covers about 1/5 of the railing on the left side. we actually thought it was nice as we could pull a chair over behind it and still see out yet the metal blocked the wind and sun (not that the verandahs are really windy). it is the last verandah room prior to the navigator verandah rooms.

i didn't think we were gyp'ed on price or anything based on this.

some other things about that room. there is a pull-bown berth in the ceiling so the room sleeps 4. the muster station for that room is in animator's palate so while everyone is sweating to death in their lovely life jackets outside you get to sit inside in the air conditioning.

we liked the location and are booked in a room near there for our next cruise. hope this helps.

just my opinion.....

you win either way! The reason the price is the same for cat 6 on the side w/ plexiglass and cat 6 on the back corner w/ metal is that they are both great in their own way! One is not better than the other. We had 6152 (I think that was the #) and it was on the back corner of the ship with a metal verandah. It was twice as big as the plexiglass verandahs and the location was perfect because we could see in more directions. In port, we could see both sides of the ship and the back! And there is more privacy on a metal verandah. Relax! If you are worried, pick one of the cabins that is just like the all the others. If you look at the map of the ship, on the back category 6 cabins, you can tell they are bigger. Those are the ones with the metal verandah. Funny, I booked this room because the verandah looked bigger. I thought I had the best category 6 there was. Not until I read this board when I got back did I realize that other people had plexiglass verandahs. I guess here, the bigger verandah is a negative to some. Not me. Enjoy!

i just cancelled 6134 and booked 6652 ... for 8/31
disappointed i cannot get plexi, but the point of a verandah, i thought, was for both of us to sit out there and enjoy the view ...
IMHO obstructed is obstructed, whether it's 20% or not.
just seems the RIGHT thing is for DCL to be honest about it ...

(sorry, i'm beating dead horse here ...)

it is nice that you could put a positive spin on these Verandahs. It appears that there is a flood gate of panic opened since this original posts appear.
Driver- 6134 appeared in the pictures to me, exactly how you described it.
Tiggere- Thanks for putting a positive spin on the metal verandahs as well. I was always worried that I would get one of "THOSE" until I read Inkognito's positive aspect of it.
