which is better? I didnt realize until after looking at the DCL staterooms we have a solid white verandah. I thought it would be plexiglass. all cat 5 rooms have the solid white?

for me plexiglass is better. Full view of the outside. depends on where your cabin is located as to whether you have a plexiglass or solid rail covering. aft seems to have the solids. switch to mid and you will have plexiglass.

Most of the category 5 and 6 have the plexiglass verandas. Those that are aft of the category 7's are the ones with the solid white verandas.

If you're inclined to spend much time in your stateroom, certainly a plexiglass verandah would be nice to have so you could view the ocean while sitting out there. If, like most people, you don't spend much time in your room except to change and sleep then it probably wouldn't make much difference.

Either way, it is nice to be able to step outside for some fresh air when you have retired to your room for the evening or to catch the morning sunrise while enjoying that first cup of coffee from room service.

Have a wonderful time.

thanks for all the info- how would I know my room has it? by reading the disney site it seems like all cat 5 have solid white. we are in room 7048. Im sure the kids would prefer the plexiglass.

That room has the plexiglass veranda, enjoy your cruise!

If you have kids then plexi is the one to have....my daughter had to stand on the table to look out over the top of the metal one, and I had to hold on to her very tight when she was up there...the next cruise we had a plexi one and she could sit in the chair and look out...much less nerve racking!!

It is the verandah staterooms aft of the nav verandahs that have solid white verandahs. I know them well because my favorite stateroom, 5650, has one! I like it because it is as far aft as possible, with a neighbor on only one side, and the verandah is larger than usual due to the curve of the ship. I know many people prefer the plexiglass verandahs, but I prefer the extra space and "cozy" feeling (not to mention the quiet) of 5650.

I'm on deck 6 aft and have the plexiglass. It is nice in the morning for sitting and having a cup of coffee watching the sea go by.

so if an adult is sitting down behind the solid white wall, can you still see the ocean or do you have to stand up to truly enjoy?

Do the room stewards ever clean the plexiglass verandah's or do they tend to get fogged up or scummy at all?

Can two adults sit out there with chairs?

If an adult is outside sitting they can not see over the verandah, you are looking at white wall. You need to stand up to see the water. There are 2 chairs and a tiny table out there, the table is good enough to put a couple drinks on.

Adults would have to stand up to see the ocean, with a solid wall verandah. It was about chest high on me and I am 5'5''.

The plexiglass is usually cleaned between cruises. But I am sure your room steward would be happy to oblige.

Yes, my Dmom and I have enjoyed our coffee on the verandah.

BTW, those are some of my favorite memories.
