Veranda- Got to have it.

I could not have said it better!

There is nothing like sitting out on the Verandah at night with a glass of wine listening and watching the ship "move" along in the water! Very, very peaceful. It's a must for us and if we have to wait 2 or 3 years between cruises to have this option, we will wait.

Bravo! With our 25 Anniversary Cruise in Sept. 09, we have to have a veranda. we had the smallest cabin possible for our honeymoon so many years and cruises ago ( you could hear the engines, that's how far down we were, one step up from rowing). All of our DCL cruises have had a veranda, if it means saving more in other areas, than we do, the ability to sit and watch the sea go by, the fresh air, the sounds of the sea, and just being there make any sacrifice worth it.
But this question, like many on the DIS board, is a personal choice, not right or wrong, just yours.
What ever your choice or preference, Smooth Sea

As my tag says "have veranda will cruise" I love having a verandah and spend lots of time out there especially on sea days. We've sailed once without it (in a Cat 8) and that was ok for the short 4 day cruise we were on but give me a verandah every time.

It truly is a matter of taste as some don't use their rooms as much.

The nice thing is that each of us can get exactly the type of room we prefer. No decision is wrong.

:thumbsup2 Just think of the stress of booking if everyone wanted the same rooms!

I don't think it's a matter of taste as much as a willingness to pay for it. I've never read that anyone dislikes a verandah, and I'd be happy to book one every time...with someone else's money! I'm just not willing to pay a lot more for a cabin with one - especially on a premium-priced cruise line like Disney.

I thought about booking a verandah room but then got scared off by one thought: What if I spend the extra money for the verandah and then someone next to us was out there smoking on theirs the whole time? I really don't like cigarette smoke (I quit 7 years ago and I am one of those former smokers that hates the smell...sorry!)

Has anyone encountered this? Are they built in a way that still offers privacy and/or clean air as far as neighbors are concerned?

I think I would trust the ocean breeze to take care of any smoke.

I'm interested in seeing how the new verandas are on the Oasis of the Seas. The ones that are built inside looking across at each other.

It will probably look like the Hyatt looks like at MCO... Rooms overlooking a promenade...

Give me my ocean and the blue water and the white swirls that the ship makes with the wake ANYDAY!!!

Kinda looks like an apartment complex , not many dolphins :lmao:

We will not even think of booking Without a verandah :headache: Can always change dates but the room is a deal breaker for us.

The only time I'm giving up my verandah on deck 7 is for a Cat 1-3!!! :goodvibes But then again I'm just trading up for a much bigger verandah...:goodvibes

We have only had verandahs. I don't think we will be able to afford one for the Baltic though, so may have to go with an outside cabin... I know I just can't do inside, I would be clautrophobic and we need to see the horizon to keep the seasickness at bay...

We're planning on booking the Baltic too! We HAVE to have a verandah though.. it's a longer cruise and my DH says that if we get an inside room or an oceanview room, he'll have to sleep on the deck.. :rolleyes1 I just have to get over the initial sticker shock and then merrily plan away.
