Vera Bradley

mini hipster!! :cool1: this bag is fantastic !! I was originally going to bring a bigger bag and after reading what everyone else was bringing, I bought a mini-hipster. it was PERFECT !!! it fit everything I wanted to bring and I could wear it cross body .... it was like I wasn't even carrying a bag!

the little zipper compartment in the front fits Disney tickets perfectly! so you're not having to dig in your wallet everytime you need your ticket....

Dumb question from a girl who usually wears a dorky fanny pack. Is the mini hipster like carrying a purse? I really need to be hands free and not worry about a purse.

I was looking at an All-in-one wristlet the other day, which I thought might be great, but even that is smaller than my fanny pack. Does anyone else use the wristlet? I loved the idea above about putting on a belt.

Thanks,
Deb

love my vera bags! last year, I didn't carry any bags into the park. But I did bring my little hip bag and travel belt, unfortunately I didn't use them.

I have used them for shopping trips. Used them at the Vera outlet sale, Shakerwoods, and any time I'm shopping and don't want to worry about carrying a purse. The travel belt doesn't hold too much, but when you're just carrying some cash, ID, credit cards and few keys, it does the trick. The little hip bag holds a bit more, but it doesn't sit as flat against your hip as the travel belt does. Of course I've also used the mini hipster while shopping too! It's nice when I want or need to carry a few more things, phone, camera, sunglasses, etc.

Last year I saw a woman carrying a Weekender bag into the parks. I thought, whew that's going to become heavy and cumbersome after awhile.

For those that have the Lizzy, do you think it would hold a camera that is mid sized? I have the Canon Powershot SX30is, which has a shape like a dslr, but smaller.

I have not used it at WDW yet so I'm looking for a new bag. I was leaning towards the Hipster, the regular kind, not mini.

I have an Overland Donner I used last trip that worked well and held alot, and would work for this camera, but I'm always on the lookout for a new one of course. Right now I have it in an Overland Placer, but that is just a camera bag...none of the stuff I'd have at the parks like sunglass holder, etc.

My camera is about that size. I just tried it in the Lizzy and it does fit in the main compartment, lens down, and I can zip it, just. There is not room for much else in the main compartment. The Lizzy doesn't really even hold a full size wallet, which I thought would bother me at first, but now I love having the wallet built into the purse (that's in an outer zip pocket though). So I'm surprised it fits my camera, I really didn't think it would. So if the camera is in there, you won't be able to put sunglasses in too. It's that small.

A Weekender is a really big bag! Maybe they had a stroller or something to ride it on. Otherwise that could get heavy.

So you can fit a camera and sunglasses into the Mini Hipster? I was thinking it might be too small for that. I think my camera wouldn't fit in a Mini Hipster since it's not the flat kind.

I just bought my first VB bag. I bought the hipster (Very Berry Paisley) and the wristlet that holds a cell phone (I don't know style names yet. I'm a newbie!). I plan on using my hipster at WDW.

Do you treat your bag somehow to make it more dirt/water repellant before taking it to Disney?

Lizzy worked well for my Jan trip. I was able to keep my glasses in my hard glass case, my Droid, sunglasses and a few other small items in the main section and put credit cards and other cards in the card holder. The adjustable strap was a plus.

Wow! That's more than I was expecting to get in one. Now I'm convinced I will be getting one for our trip in Aug. I have to carry a phone, sunglasses, sanitizer and gotta have my chapstick!!! How did you handle cash or change? Is there a zipper pouch inside the Lizzy for that? Or do I need a change purse for it too? I used the zipper pouch on the Mini Hipster for that previously, so I hope there is one on the Lizzy too!!!

I carry the old backsack. I have three and interchange them with the seasons. The outside pocket is great for my cellphone. I can also stuff the heck out of it ... I've had two lightweight jackets, bagels, a champagne glass bought from France and all my personal stuff crammed in there before.

I just looked, and there is no zip compartment inside for change. So you'd either need a coin purse, or you could put the coins in the same outer zip pocket with the card sleeves.

What do you do with your veras when you ride Splash Mountain or Kali River? Or when it rains? I love using a mini-hipster, hipster, or mailbag, but if I see there is a good chance of rain, I take my baggellini.

Nope. Almost all bags are machine washable/air dry! I just take the stiff liner (if the bag has one) out and wash it, then lay it out to dry. I love it! Most wallets are "spot clean only" though.

I carried a mentos tube for pressed pennies, but I kept other loose change in the back "wallet" zip compartment. It is deep enough that I didn't feel like it would fall out every time I accessed my cards/tickets.

I'm not going to guarantee it, but my camera (canon G10) fit in the main compartment with it's thick custom wrist strap. With the camera in the main compartment, I also fit my inhaler, headphones, extra memory card, mentos gum container and 'girly products'.

I'm wondering that myself. I haven't ridden any Disney water rides with it because it was so cold when we were at Disney. But next trip, I hope to. I read a tip on here somewhere to carry a drawstring plastic bag, like you'd get at the GAP, or bring a ziplock, and just pop the purse inside of that for the ride.

I didn't see a stroller, but here's hoping maybe they were getting one or something.

my camera is flat, so no problems there. I would say the Hipster would be great if you had a bigger camera. Unfortunately I don't have a Hipster..so I'm only guessing.

I bought a Hipster and loaded it up with my camera and camcorder, but I didn't like the way it fit my stuff so I returned it. It's a flat bag, and my camera (not being the flat kind) made it stick out a lot and it looked and felt weird when I loaded it up with that and my other stuff.

I have a WDW rainjacket and I just tuck my Vera Mini Hipster under the jacket and on the water rides, I put it in the compartments in the ride cars and they have stayed dry. I didn't realize that the Baggellini is waterproof. I may need to reconsider one of those.

I had my mom hold it! :rotfl:

I would put it under a poncho or put it in a plastic bag.

I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread so this may have been discussed previously. Im' a HUGE Vera fan, I have about 25 bags that I switch on & off with. HOWEVER - DO NOT take a Vera bag with a magnetic closure - it will de-magnatize your park tickets & room key every time! I found this out the hard way when I went 2 weeks ago - I had gotten a new Lizzy bag. The front pocket is a magnetic closure (no snap, it just clicks closed). Every single day my park tickets were de-magnatized, and my room key. Finally on the 4th day at Guest Services (after them telling me for days it must be my cell phone - yet no one else in my party had issues & they all had cell phones) - the person asked if I had any magnetic closures on my purse. He said the magnetic closures usually don't de-magnatize a credit card, but will do it to park tickets every time. ARGH!

So I went back to Disney last week & used a different Vera bag (regular hipster - great size for Disney) - and my tickets & room keys worked fine. I did a test - switched to my Lizzy bag for one evening - and yes, both the ticket & room key were de-magnatized. So that has to be the answer!

I used The Tote this trip the most - I had never done a shoulder bag in Disney before -always my Vera hipster, mini hipster (too small for me), Lizzy or backpack - and I really like The Tote. I was able to fit tons more in that than any other bag I've used there.

Oh I forgot to mention - someone on another thread stated that there is no Vera Bradley for sale in WDW - Lamont's - the shop inside The Dolphin, sells Vera Bradley & they have a HUGE selection. They had a few pieces on their clearance table too!
