Vera Bradley vs. Baggalini

I am a loyal Vera Bradley customer. I typically carry a cross body style vera bag that converts to a hip bag.... But I don't usually go during rainy season. I'm considering switching to a Baggalini bag for my trip next week. Do they typically dry faster than cotton bags? Are any of them waterproof?

Which style is your favorite?

I have a Vera Bradley purse that I use instead of the fanny pack my kids hate. One day at the park I wore a white tshirt with my Vera Bradley purse. It started raining that day. A short time later I happened to look down and the front of my shirt had been stained from the purse. The colors ran once the purse got wet. I am not sure if all of her purses do this, but mine did. :-(

I hope others can chime in and help you more.

Hmm not sure but I use Kipling. Most of their line is nylon and you just throw it in the wash. I've carried on of their crossbody bags for my last 5 trips. I worked in wholesale for them so I'm bias :)

Love my Baggallini. I just ordered these two.. One for me and one for my 13 year old daughter. You can wear them across the body or around the waist.

the triple zip bag

And the teenee bag

I own this one and really like it. Not sure if it is waterproof but it's definitely water resistant. It has survived 4 Disney trips and still looks brand new. I just need something smaller because the sling type bag has started to hurt my neck.

I use the teenee bag (the second link). I've had it since 2006. It holds my Razr phone, my credit cards, tickets and money. I love it. I usually wear it as a crossbody, but when we were at Universal I turned it into a fanny pack around my waist and put my shirt over it and you couldn't even see it. That kept me from having to put it in a locker.

I'm pretty sure mine is the rip stop nylon.

My Baggallini Zip 'n' Go is at least water repellent. I dripped OJ on it at AK and it beaded up and wiped right off. It is the nylon material.

The baggalini looks really good, but I have never liked backpacks that go over only one shoulder. Does anyone have the same experience, but found they really liked the baggalini?

I can't stand to have a backpack over one shoulder. That is why I am excited about the triple zip bagallinni. I am going to wear it around my waist. My sil has a bagallinni backpack that she really likes. I'm sure it's more comfortable than the sling.

Wearing it around your waist looks like a great idea. I need something bigger to carry water bottles though.

I only used my Vera hipster once on our first Aug. trip...we got caught in a typical Aug. rainstorm and my bag was soaked. What made me nervous is that my camcorder was in there! After that trip I got a small Baggalini backpack that is water repellent. It's not as pretty as my Vera, but at least I don't have to worry about my things getting wet.

I'm planning on purchasing the piazza bag by ebags.com. I read on another thread about it and decided to check it out myself. It's made of nylon so it should be pretty water resistant. The website also says it comes with a lifetime guarantee. :thumbsup2 It has tons of pockets, including one on the side for a water bottle which I :lovestruc. It also comes in a lot of fun colors (I'm getting eggplant:goodvibes).

I'm a little confused about how folks wear some of these bags around their waists. Do they come with more than one strap, one designed for the waist? Do you double the strap? I have the larger cross body Baggalini and we used it on our last trip, but I'd be interested in possibly wearing something smaller and waist-anchored this trip...

I carry crossbody bags a lot. I just drop the strap around my waist and knot it at the correct length. Works like a charm.

I have both a Vera and Baggalinni...I've worn the baggalinni to Disney several times and there are two things I have decided I don't like about it.

1. It irritates the one shoulder it is hanging on, and because it is bigger I tend to carry more in it, thus it gets heavier. The straps are wide and not very soft.
2. It's hot, it doesn't breathe. Great for rain but not great when it's 95 degrees...I always ended up with a big sweaty spot from carrying it.

Why I like the Vera Hipster:
1. It's cotten, so it breathes. I never feel overly hot with it.
2. After using it for a few weeks the straps are nice and soft...plus I think they are narrower so they don't cut into my neck.

No matter what kind of bag I carry to the parks I always pack several ziplocs...big and small for those rain showers that can pop up. I wore my Vera under a poncho recently at a baseball game and it stayed nice and dry...we plan to cover up if it rains so it shouldn't get soaked.

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps somebody out.

It helps me out! I just splurged and ordered my first VB, not just for our trip in the fall, but for any time. So many people recommend the Hipster on the DIS that I bought that. I'll make sure it stays under my poncho if it rains. What worries me is that I also ordered a backpack that was 1/2 off. It doesn't look like it has the colors that are most likely to bleed, but now I'm worried.

I'm kind of confused why the bag bled and the colors ran together for the above poster. If they are machine washable, it seems like if you wash the bag, when you pull it out of the machine, you expect it to look the same! So why would rain ruin it? :scared1: Now I'm worried about my stuff getting ruined.

Anyone carry a VB backpack at Disney? I have diapers and wipes and all that good stuff to carry around. I ordered the laptop backpack, which may turn out to be too big for the parks, but if so, I'll use it for travel.
