For those of you that carry the VB hipster (not mini) can you fit a DSLR camera in it?
I got the bagallini hipster but I'm not loving it...since it goes to the left. I like to have my bag to the right!

Not a chance. They are very narrow. I use mine as my everyday bag and it hold a tiny travel umbrella, my iphone, keys, wallet and point and shoot camera with no room to spare

I could maybe fit DH's Nikon DSLR in it, body only, but no way with a lens. I also wouldn't be able to carry much else. I can carry my wallet, Blackberry, autograph book, point and shoot camera, and a few other things like a pen, wipes, small hand sanitizer, etc.

I think it would depend upon how big your camera is and what else you want to carry.

I was able to carry two 20 oz sodas, a small id case/wallet, small camera, a kid's sun hat, small pack of babywipes, a bottle of tylenol, sunglasses, asthma inhaler, cell phone and a couple of plastic baggies in mine when we went.

My recommendation - find a store that stocks them, bring your camera and everything else you want to carry and try putting it all in.

Not in the hipster, but I did fit my Canon rebel into my Overland Donner bag once. Beside the camera I fit my tiniest wallet, a pack of tissues, my cell phone & car keys & a water bottle in one of the water bottle pockets.

The bag isn't paded, so it won't help protect the camera, but it is nylon & the day I used it for this purpose was for a class trip with my youngest DD & it looked like it might rain. I knew the bag would work to keep the camera dry until we got inside.

BTW vera bags soak completely through in a heavy rainstorm, so if you do put your camera in there, you may want to carry a plastic bag in case of a sudden storm!
