Vents and responses

Well, usually I only flame somebody if they've attacked someone or if they're idea of "logic" is so skewed that they sound like an idiot. Then I'll try to convince them to see the light.

I am tempted to flame people when they insist on posting with huge colorful writing in the most un-subtle of ways.

But I don't. ;)

Some of your posts have been a bit hard to read. But I gather you are a receptionist and that you look down on your employers because they have high school educations. Also, your advanced degrees allow you to express your opinions on how you think the company should be run. You are also trying to get changes made via ADA because you have stress and ADHD. I'm not quite sure, but it sounded like you only work part time, yet wish to go on full time disability. (good luck with that one, BTW. :lmao: ) It also looks like you call your union reps complaining about your managers quite often. And you actually wonder why your employers don't like you...hmmm...

Maybe you should post a disclaimer on all of your work vents "do not reply if you are going to disagree with me". Feel free to use that large font you are so fond of.

I know you're joking, and it is funny, but I think folks should take your message seriously, as well. If someone doesn't want anyone to disagree with them, they should stress that point, not only in the OP, but in the subject line of the message, so folks can know not to open the thread. Truly, such folks would be best-off looking into setting up a blog -- there is never any chance of someone disagreeing with you in your own blog!

I hope you don't take this as mean or flaming because I'm just trying to explain something nicely to you. As others have said (maybe not as politely as you'd have liked), you should refrain from using the large, colored fonts when posting in online forums. When I opened your thread, I was immediately defensive before I ever read anything you wrote. Why? - it had to be the large "screaming" font and color. I felt like I was being yelled at and instantly, I wanted to yell back. You may be the nicest, meekest person on earth, but when you are typing to someone and not talking to someone, you should really take into account how your choice of fonts and colors may make that person feel. We can't hear the tone of your voice and a lot of people will read more into your font choice than you may have intended. Hope this was helpful.

Just wanted to add something, sometimes people use large fonts or all caps because they have vision issues.

If that is the case here, you can set your computer to show a large font onyour screen, but still type in a regular one so that we are all seeing a 'normal' size and you can read what you are typing.

Holy crap, bananiem, I just about fell out of my chair. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I think that there are many posts that are for advice and venting purposes and are a load of hogwash. Some are incredibly easy to spot and I am amazed at the P and P that gets lopped onto these posters. P and P encourages the behavior and is ultimately harmful (IMHO) to the poster posting the hogwash.

Maybe it's the fact that you write like a 12 year old with the big letters!

All in all not everyone is going to agree with you. This is an internet message board.

I think that what posters have replied to you have all been fine they are offering their opinion and no they are not always going to agree with you!

I think if the post is clearly labled as a "vent" and advice is not asked for, then really it isn't appropriate to flame, crititize, or disagree with the OP.

UNLESS, the post is clearly the work of a troll. Like "I stubed my toe at WDW and I got free passes for LIFE because a CM was rude about it". Then it's open season! :teeth:

When you post something on an Internet message board, you open it up for commentary, not all of which will be positive.

Which is frequently interpreted as an "attack".

Maybe they can start a Kumbaya board so we can all hold hands.

Yes some people just feel the need to be rude and/or to pass judgement on other people when they don't know all the facts. Some people are not very nice :(
