Venting over an EBay loss....

And I can't even really call it an EBay loss because I was only watching...never actually got to bid on it. I've been trying for 2 yrs now to find the Blue Tiki Hawaiin shirt in a size 2XL. FINALLY find one and it's been bid on so I can't opt to Buy It Now. So I do the best next thing..I watch it. The plan...tell DH to also watch it so that we are both prepared. Well after dropping kiddies off at respective camps this morning I run to work to try and check before jumping on a call. Get to work and there's drama. Needless to say the bid ended at 9:50am and I 1-never got to check on it and 2- never did ask DH to watch it and therefore bid on it if at a good price. Well the shirt sold for a VERY GOOD price and I missed it. I MISSED IT! UGH.

OK..thanks for reading. Here's hoping for another bid sooner rather than later.

Send the seller a message to let him know that you are interested in the shirt if the high bidder doesn't satisfy the auction.

The buyer will probably complete the transaction, but at least the seller will know that you are interested instead of reposting it.

What I always do is put in a bid for the maximum amount I am willing for something. If I am outbid, I rethink if I could go a little higher, if not oh well.

I also recommend a sniping program. Put your max bid into that and it will bid at the last minute for you. The advantages of bidding last minute include not causing a bidding war with an inexperienced ebayer who just bids in small increments AND the ability to change your mind. If you bid early and find it elsewhere, you are still on the hook. With a sniping program in that situation, you can cancel before you ever bid for real.

That's exactly why I use one. I've seen the prices go way higher when you put in your max bid right on ebay, either because other people don't really know what they're doing, or because they're just competitive that way.
