Venting about complainers!!!!!

It's unfortunate that they don't sell it at a stand in the Canadian Pavilion..

...or replace the mill stage with a Poutine stand.

That is a brilliant idea!

We have a place here in the town I live in called The Whistle Stop and folks travel from all over for their MANY MANY amazing poutine options. Maybe they could lend Disney a hand :upsidedow

Poutine is delicious! Of course I love poutine, im Canadian. But really, what a wonderful combination...gravy AND cheese! Let me tell you, i've seen a few restaurants here use regular shredded mozerella instead of cheese curds. Of course curds are always better than mozerella, but honestly mozerella still tastes pretty good! I've done it this way at home too. I dont mind it at all! And my DS doesnt complain either. :) I cant wait to try the poutine place in Disney Springs myself. :goodvibes The breakfast poutine looks good with the tater tots and egg on top.

That's kind of how I feel, but I'm not Canadian. Fries? Good. Cheese? Good. Gravy? Good. Is it authentic? I have no clue, but it's yummy! I used to get the Farmhouse Poutine at Le Cellier and it was amazing. I'm sad to see it is gone. I think I'll be trying the breakfast poutine in DS.

What it comes down to is some people will find something not to like about everything or ever place.

People love Yachtsman but I don't care for it. People dislike Le Cellier, I happen to love it.

My advice is to make your own decisions and only use other opinions as consideration.

I'm with you about Le Cellier! I love it there! Although I've never had a steak there...

And this is why I don't 'usually' eat Italian or Lobster in WDW.

Actually I don't eat lobster often unless I'm in Maine, it never lives up to it, so I just pass.

Italian I set my expectations, and I'll eat it other places but it's infrequent.

Didn't know they were going to be open for breakfast, hmmmm

You don't go to any Portguese restaurants in your neck of the woods? Those are the places to get lobster in NJ--no need to drive to Maine when you have places like The Iberia in Newark, Segovia in Moonachie El Cid in Paramus, etc.

I recommend the twin lobster special broiled at Segovia. Eating it will change your life. :)

Fair point, yes I love those restaurants in Newark, but that lobster is prepared different, it isn't a simple boiled lobster, so yes I would get that, and I have.

So I was reading here about mushy peas. Mushy peas? Okay. So I goggled them and they appear to be something like refried beans, only green peas instead of pinto beans. Is that right?

I actually do not expect "authentic" at WDW unless I am dining at a Signature restaurant. I have had Mexican food in Mexico, Caribbean food in Belize, Tuscan food in Tuscany, Pizza in both New York and Chicago, Lobster in Maine, Oysters in Washington, Poutine in Canada etc. I also know that regional foods within a country can differ greatly. That said, I do appreciate those from various regions of the country letting me know how "authentic" a dish is so I can make dining choices accordingly. I also don't appreciate hyperbole such as "it was not even close to real pizza and I couldn't even eat it" types of comments. Specific reasons for why you liked or disliked the food is very helpful. A critical palate in a restaurant review forum is greatly appreciated when accurate, detailed and informative.

I also agree with posters who have noted a decline in quality since the advent of the DDP. We usually pay OOP because we often dine at restaurants not included such as those at the Swan and Dolphin, but have noticed a decline in portion size, unique ingredients and offerings as well as the quality of ingredients used.

I understand both sides of the argument.

Just to point out, there are over 20+ countries in the Caribbean that have wildly different cuisines.

@NJlauren - funny you say that about lobster. The best lobster I've ever had was Caribbean Spiny Lobster in Dominican Republic. Simple, and amazing. Nothing fancy. Sometimes you can find great food anywhere.

Yes, I am aware of differences in Caribbean cuisine. I also enjoy Jamaican cuisine. I liked the Mexican food in the Yucatan as it is more seafood based. I have had the spiny lobster in the Caribbean but do prefer the cold water variety. A matter of personal taste. Lobster Fest is big in Belize and I have had some excellent dishes.

My biggest point is, critiques are helpful to my decisions. Hyperbole and exaggerated disgust are not helpful.

Agreed about the last part. One of my weird travel planning habits is to read what the 1 star reviews of a place are and think about what they are saying.

I think of it this way. If what someone says clicks with me, I take it inter consideration. Best example from my last trip was the reviews of Olivia's at Old Key West. In fact most of my dining choices on my last trip were influenced by TheTimTracker's top 5 places to eat.

Yeah, I agree..I'm from Scotland and that haggis at the food and wine in 2014 was not haggis..There is no such thing as a vegetarian haggis..You gotta get up very early in the morning, head for the hills, and shoot the little vermin..lol.

It's obviously a generalization, but in my experience when I have ordered lobster other places I have been extremely disappointed. So I stopped ordering it, that's not to say it isn't good other places, I just stopped trying to find other good places. Especially since most of those places have other dishes I want to try.

Omg I do this too, for everything from hotels to restaurants to parks, I find if the 1 stars are complaining about things I don't care about ill love it.

Whichever is why real Haggis is illegal to bring to the US! lol.

I do this with everything including recipes! If I read what someone doesn't like, a lot of times it is (as you said) something that doesn't annoy or bother me. in cooking sometimes it's a matter of level of spiciness or the dish actually came out different than the photo. So I do read ( And WANT to read) all the negative reviews. it gives me a more well rounded picture.

Not refried, but essentially mashed green peas yes.
