I actually do not expect "authentic" at WDW unless I am dining at a Signature restaurant. I have had Mexican food in Mexico, Caribbean food in Belize, Tuscan food in Tuscany, Pizza in both New York and Chicago, Lobster in Maine, Oysters in Washington, Poutine in Canada etc. I also know that regional foods within a country can differ greatly. That said, I do appreciate those from various regions of the country letting me know how "authentic" a dish is so I can make dining choices accordingly. I also don't appreciate hyperbole such as "it was not even close to real pizza and I couldn't even eat it" types of comments. Specific reasons for why you liked or disliked the food is very helpful. A critical palate in a restaurant review forum is greatly appreciated when accurate, detailed and informative.
I also agree with posters who have noted a decline in quality since the advent of the
DDP. We usually pay OOP because we often dine at restaurants not included such as those at the Swan and Dolphin, but have noticed a decline in portion size, unique ingredients and offerings as well as the quality of ingredients used.
I understand both sides of the argument.
