Where do people get the mentality they are better than others?
Whether it be because of possesions,where they shop,what they wear,how much they pay for x/y/z.
When I was in the 4th grade,I was told I lived on the "poor side of town" by a class mate. I asked how come,and what was the reason?
"Because all those people who live in that community live in crappy homes,wear crappy clothes,and shop at so-and-so."
I've heard that someone was better than another because they didn't buy their groceries at "XYZ".
I've heard that someone looks poor because they don't wear "Insert Designer Here" clothes.

Why?
Clothing,homes,groceries,income,etc. do not make someone better than another.
If anything,it makes them look more stuck-up and uninformed.
It makes me sooo angry.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I constantly ask myself the same question.
People where I am from are really bad about thinking they are better then everybody else when really they are pretty much stupid.
I hate it.
If I post much more I'll get mad and start throwing things so I better stop.

It makes me mad seeing that younger and younger kids are getting cell phones. I didn't get mine until 9th grade. There are probably little kindergartens running around with brand new razrs or iphones.

It also makes me mad seeing how many gifts some people got for christmas. I got a grand total of 3 gifts from my parents and I didn't care. I wasn't expecting anything. I didn't ask for anything specific. Then there are the kids that got 50 something gifts and are probably asking why they didn't get such and such. My Christmas was very good and I'm grateful for it.

I got a brand new tv for my room which is just what I wanted but didn't know.
Bath and body works stuff
& an Ugly Betty Calender.

Like those were my main presents and then I got my stocking which had candy and movie tickets and a Barnes & Noble gift card.

I also got presents from my brother and sister. I had a great christmas.

I feel the same way. I hate when people act like they are better than others because they wear designer clothes and look like a twig. I am sorry but every should be treated equal, no matter what you look like or where you live or anything like that. I just hate it when people act like that. I have gone through ppl doing the same thing to me and I really hate it.

I totally agree. I am so *freaking* tired of people thinking they're better than me just because they wear all abercrombie, are the size of toothpicks, live in 10 story houses, have a 300 dollar cell phone, own 25 $1,000 purses. GUAHFSDGGDS!

Well,I can justify the cell phone for my 10 year old sister.
My mom got it for her to keep in touch with her while she has after school activities or if she's late on the school bus while we are in the hospital or at chemo treatments.
But I am pretty positive most 10 year olds don't have siblings with cancer.

I agree with the cell phone part. It makes sense if both parents work or they the kid is involved in something to get in touch with their parents. I didn't mean that to insult anyone. But their really isn't a reason for a young kid to have a cell phone just for the sake of having one. If you understand what I mean.

well, i always heard from my teachers that people only bully (and yes, that is bullying) when theyre jealous and need to feel better about themselves. thats really the only explanation. i wouldnt go as far as to take it as a compliment, but i wouldnt let it bother you.

It seems like just because I like Disney that I'm considered a "baby" and how people at my school aren't into Disney all that much. My friend has 3 designer purses. "Why do you need 3 purses, Tegan?" I asked her. She said back "I don't know-I want 3 of them." My other friend said "You can't JUST have one, Allison! Come on! It's a girl thing." That got me kinda upset. Just because I don't carry a purse I'm not as good as them? That makes no sense at all.

It seems like most people follow the "in" crowd.

No, I do not wear makeup. I just don't FEEL like wearing it. For this reason being, I get looked down on.

I'd rather listen to Country songs that have meaning instead of listening to Rap where there's a swear word in every single line.

I guess it also makes me poor because I don't feel comfortable in extremely tight designer clothes therefore don't wear them.

I guess I'm weird because I don't feel the need to conform to all social norms.

Because I don't feel the need to wear skin tight shirts with skulls on them, and I'd much rathar wear a flowy dress and some jeans that makes me emo.

I don't feel the need to talk to your preppy butt, and that makes me quiet and stuck up.

That doesn't really bother me in the least.

What does bother me is when somebody says 'Why would you want something SO expensive, it's such a waste of money!'. To me, it might not be a waste of money. Either say 'Nice -whatever that something is-' or say nothing.

I don't brag about what I have. I don't think I'm better than anyone because of what I have. I don't run other people down for what they like. If I think it's something stupid, I keep my mouth shut, instead of saying 'What a waste of money'.

I don't see what's wrong with young people having cell phones or other nice things. I got my cell phone when I was 11, so I could stay in touch with my parents when I go places.

Clothes are different for some people. To most that buy designer clothes it's because they like the style, material, store. Not necessarily because "everyone shops there". Honestly...that annoys me; how people think that you could only possibly like that store because "everyone else goes there."
You can shop wherever you want and your preference can be designer or not. As long as you like the clothes and wear them. =)
