I am so ticked off!

My co-workers and I noticed this kid out in front of our office acting suspicious and were checking him out. co-worker # 1 says "what is that kid doing?" Co-worker #2 says "oh he is just fiddling with his cell phone".

Ten minutes later I go out to my van to run to the store for a pop and notice my cell phone recharging cord hanging over my steering wheel. It takes me a minute to realize the little sh*t was fiddling with MY cell phone!!!

He reached right in my window and took it off the charger! Co-worker #2 called it and he answered. She said "this call is being traced and if you bring back this stolen phone no charges will be laid"

He says "How do you know I stole it?"

She says "We saw you!"

He then hung up.....

I then called the police to see if they would call it ~ figured if he saw Brantford Police on the call display it may scare him.

But they sent out an officer to look for him....we got a good description but I'm sure he has since thrown away the phone. I called 310-BELL and suspended the service until I get a chance to get out and buy a new one.

Thanks for hearing me out ~ if it wasn't such an inconvenience and costly it would almost be comical because we saw him!

Arggghhhhhh!

Funny side note: My dad (the sweetie) called my phone and left a message for the kid! I said "Dad....he can't get my messages..... " :rotfl:

Ugh, that's horrible. I get so paranoid about things like that that I practically hyperventilate if I forget my phone in the car. I'm sprinting to the car to retrieve it if I leave it in the open. You've just reinforced my fears.

I hope that guy spends some time looking over his shoulder.

How come he was able to get at your phone at all? Don't you lock your doors/roll up your windows? Door locks are a pretty standard feature on most cars :confused3

Okay smarty pants ~ the doors were locked but the window was down about 4 inches to allow for fresh air. I work in a small office, on a busy street and park right beside the building(same spot for the past 11 years!). We are on a corner so I cannot see my van from my seat but we are always walking past the window to go to the safe, washroom, kitchen etc. He was pretty ballsy considering people driving by on the street must have seen him. My boss found a broken fishing pole laying on the ground outside the back door so we figure he must have used it to grab the phone cord and pull it across the dash toward the window.

Yes, my van has the standard feature of door locks and they were engaged. Thank you very much!

I do agree with this poster - (Sorry) I would not leave my windows down ever- even to let air in unless I am inside of course. It's like an invitation to any kid saying "Take the cell phone it's yours".

I also know that some insurance companies have issues with this type of thing if a) you leave valuables in your car and b) it is unlocked/open.

No worries we do the same thing especially if it is hot out and many many people do it also just so happens this time you got stung for it. If it happened to me I would be PO'd but still laugh at the same tiome for it happening but I would still park with my windows down some to let the air circulate in the car.

Okay, so today is Monday and the original incident happened on Friday.

12:30pm ~ both co-workers are on the phone and I am working at my desk ~ Pam (CW #1) snaps her fingers and tells me "there goes that kid!"

I run out the front door and say to him "Where's my cell phone?" He says" What are you talking about?"

I say "We saw you!"

He says "whatever"

So, CW #2 and I hop in CW #1's car and follow him (we wait about 5 minutes).

We find him on a side street with his hand in the Canada Post red mailbox!

He does that for about 2-3 minutes.

Then he starts "staking out" this house and looking in the windows etc.

CW#1 has onstar in her car so we call the office and ask her for the police number (Not 911) and call the cops. We fill them in on what he is wearing etc. At this point he is sitting on a front porch smoking a cigarette (I think)
and acting really non-chalant.

He notices us and starts to slowly walk back the way he came from. At this point, 3 police cars pull up and start talking to him.

They told him the whole incident was caught on video surveillance and he admitted he took my phone.

Then when they ran his name throught the computer it turns out he has a rap sheet the length of my arm and has all kinds of restrictions on his freedom.

They handcuffed him and went through the backpack ~ I never heard if there was anything in it or not but I'm sure there was.

The police came to our office for our statements and then left. Not 10 minutes later the kid rides his bike into our parking lot and turns around. CW # 1 and # 2 went to the back door and opened it. He said "Hi there, how are ya?" Talk about brazen!!!

We told him to keep his distance......Uggh......now we are all a little worried about the safety of our vehicles and the office.

The police called to follow up and when we informed him the kid had been here he said "don't worry about it ~ he is going to be arrested later ~ he has been in contact with kids he is suppose to stay away from."

We were hoping that by turning him in it would scare him but he is not as innocent as he looks. Rather disappointing.

All I can say is WOW! This kid obviously has issues. I wouldn't continue to have contact with him. I would call the police when he comes to your place of work.

That is terrible that they could not hold him for longer than 10 minutes.
btw I often forget to lock my doors. That's country life for you... I have to double check whenever I go into the city that I have actually locked the doors. If you saw my van you would tell them to take it anyway lol I think all the car seats are worth more than the van some days :)
