VENT: when did protesting become anti-american

Here on the CB Geoff?

No, I certainly agree with you that while it's been hinted at here and there, and there have been a couple "love it or leave it" type comments- for the most part people here have expressed their opinons respectfully and reasonably. . .

There's a bit more of that sort of sentiment in the media, but as Maggie pointed out, they do tend to ignore the reasonable majority and spotlight the extreme fringes on both sides of the issue. .

But good point, and well taken. . . :)

I don't know of anyone who is for war. All I know is if one of my family was being deployed, I would find the protestors offensive. :(

Disnee Dad Says...........................................I am a new brand of peace activist. I don't march, I don't yell.
I hope to hell we get this war started as soon as possible in the name of peace. For our peace, especially for the peace of the Iraqi people who do not deserve what they are getting.
Now, I'm just a simple bumpkin, but what country in the history of the world has ever come up with this plan.
1. Tell the enemy where not to be so they don't get hurt.
2. Make plans to save the enemy's people from their own armies.
3. Plan logistics on how to feed the enemy poeple.
4. Make rebuilding plans before the first shot is fired.

Sad man's fall will stabilize the area. Local countries will feel safer, even if there is a temporary up tick in terrorism.
Don't believe Iraq will be the example of democracy, any more than things are great in Afghanistan. That distinction goes to Qatar. Amazing what they have done in the last 10 years.

Burning the flag is not an issue with free speech and is not protected by the constitution.. Only by those who "interpet" the constitution.
Same thing with "under god" violates the second ammendment. To violate this ammendment, the government would have to select, establish, and make official a religion of the USA."under god" does none of that!
I belong to the right, but when it comes to the constitution, I am for the original points made, not "interpretation" It cuts both ways.
We have a right to bear arms. That means guns, yes, rifles, yes, bazookas, AK47's Rocket Launchers NO. A right to protect ones self, not start a war.
Oh, almost forgot protesting is American, burning the flag is not!

Saffron, thank you so much. That was beautiful, and so true. My sons serve this country with pride and I am proud of them. I still believe that you can protest against the war without taking it out on our flag. What did it ever do to the protesters? It is our symbol and is sacred to me. My sons bet their lives on it, to keep it flying.
