Ok, I have a tip for those extremely large tour groups who will remain anonymous (starts with a B with an r and a z somewhere in between) that invade the value resorts and parks every summer.

Anyone thought of - oh, I don't know - splitting up?

Maybe into subgroups a little smaller than 200+ bodies???

Maybe? Could be a good idea? :confused3

I know. It's pretty genius, eh? I mean, you have to be a rocket scientist to come up with that...:thumbsup2

...you have to be almost as smart to know when NOT to go to disney because it's packed with those groups. ;) :rolleyes1

Funny - I've heard about tour groups for years. Yet in all our visits, we have never encountered them! I don't know if we are just lucky or what. We do tend to leave a park when it gets too crowded, especially the MK as it can get so crowded in the afternoon.

Are they really that obnoxious? I have seen some cranky folks (adults snapping about their kids, you know the type. Overtired kids being pushed to the limit since their parents have spent so much money to get there, not just relaxing and enjoying the trip, going too Gung Ho).

Hi gang!

This is a very touchy subject, so I just wanted to remind everyone to keep this discussion 'clean.' Please do not attack anyone else if he/she has a differing opinion than you. Also, please do not make any direct insults/critisms about the tour groups; they're people, just like the rest of us.

Happy Friday!

Now I'm curious :confused3 . Who are these tour groups and when do they arrive??? I want to be sure to mark my calendar and stay away!

I hope they aren't coming the beginning of September!

The worst group we encountered actually was a bunch of drunk young men during the food and wine festival last year. We were waiting in this horrendous line to go on the Norway boat and these guys screamed NORWAY! NORWAY! NORWAY! NORWAY! over and over LOUD the entire time we waited (30 minutes). Oh and they were right behind us in line so that just made it all the better. We were on our honeymoon and were wearing our pins...the CMs put us in our own boat all by ourselves which made things so much better!!

Are they really that obnoxious?

OOOOOOOh yes!!!!!!!!

I have had that experience 3 times. They can be VERY rude. They pretend that they don't hear/understand/see you. They cut in lines and block doors. They also tend to be VERY VERY loud.

I agree that everyone in entitled to have fun on vaction in their own way but bad manners are bad manners no matter how you slice it.

We saw the groups this past July and I really had to wonder if WDW had warned them about their behaviour because they were fantastic. It was actually fun to see them having a good time.

As to the time of year they travel, I think it's all year because I've seen them in July, August, February and March.

I'm rackin my brain trying to figure out B....Z......R
and I'm usually good at Wheel of Fortune...LOL

I've never encountered tour groups either I dont guess.. It's just always crowded, but never unbearable :)

Me too.

I guess I've never run into them, but I'm still curious as to who they are.

Try this: BR....Z.....

And then check your maps...maybe somewhere south of the US...

I've run into them once years ago. It was the only time I ever left Disney early.:scared1: I had a horrible group at the hotel and just couldn't deal with them in the parks.

There were a couple of these groups when we went in January. I had the unfornate place behind their group leader in a fast pass line. He had over 100 tickets with him! I think 30 people went to the machines on either side of me while I was stuck waiting for him to finish

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I had a similar experience in July. I was waiting behind this guy at the FP machine and it seemed like I was there forever. Finally I looked over his shoulder.......he had a wad of passes, about 3 inches high, sitting on top of the machine and another pile in his hand still to feed the machine. Needless to say I finally moved:lmao:

Ok, I guess I have to be extra extra sensitive in posts in the future. Although I see nothing controversial about it. Groups of 100+ splitting up is a good idea. Much easier for everyone all around. But I need to remember to keep everything PC, PC, PC. Something I'm normally not an advocate for.

And the tour groups are there year round....:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Most of them are usually there in January and July though. To the poster who asked if they're that bad, imagine 100 teenagers with only 1-2 adults to corral them. They are like a swarm of locusts devouring everything in their path. If you are in line for a ride, one will slowly ease past you and once he gets to the front of the line, will let out an ear piercing whistle. Suddenly 200 teenagers are knocking down everyone in their path to get to their friend. If you are waiting for a bus, there will be one kid waiting and when the bus arrives, again you will hear the ear piercing whistle and suddenly 100 kids arrive from seemingly no where to cut line and fill the bus. Once on the bus, they sing at the top of their voices all the way to the park and then scream all the way back to the resort that night, while your kids are trying to sleep. According to the CMs they literally destroy the rooms they are in. They will have their adult tour leader get them fast passes and if you happen to be stuck behind him, imagine waiting until he puts 100 room keys into the fast pass machine. I swear the only thing those tour leaders do is go from fast pass machine to fast pass machine, while their kids cause havoc. In Epcot once, I saw a swarm of them knock down a little girl, never stopped, just turned to look at her as she cried, and then started laughing. I also saw a very dangerous situation with them at DTD that same trip. A bus pulled up and they knocked a family away from the door of the bus and in the process a little boy got sperated from his parents and got knocked down and literally round up almost under the bus in front of the tire. My neighbor at the time was Brazillian and I was talking to him about them after I returned that trip. He said it is a coming of age thing for the families to send the teens to WDW the year they turn 16 y/o. He also said the families have no idea how they act up here and that normally the Brazillians are very respectful (if funloving) people and that their families would be horrified if they knew. However, what can you expect when you get 100+ excited teens together with basically no supervision? Oh yes, if anyone says anthing to them, they pull the 'no English' routine, however, according to my ex neighbor these kids come from very wealthy families and are fluent in at least Portuguese, Spanish, and English. To be fair though, I have seen some of them give up their bus seats to mothers with young children. It's just that there are so many of them, they are sooo loud, and they seem to have no concept of what a line is. Also they travel in humongous groups, always chanting.

There are those who say they are no worse than the POP Warner kids, except the POP Warner kids have more adults supervising them.

Perfect explanation.

I had no idea the kids were that young:scared1: I thought around 18-19.

We've been there a few times during the touring....they really weren't too bad. I do agree about how rude they get-but sometimes families are like that too!!!! After all, it is Disney and we are all there to have a magical time. All it takes sometimes is someone (or people) to just ruin things! Hopefully we won't encounter any of that behavior!:goodvibes

Yikes. I remeber going to Disney as a kid in the summer there used to be tons of different tour groups , The would all wear the same shirt and the leader would carry a flag. thery never seemed unruly but numerous. Anyone else remember the "people with the flags" My great aunt would hold up her umbrella for us so we would feel included ;)

I think its more of an under-supervised age issue rather than a nationality issue. We stopped going to WDW in early December because of the Pop Warner cheerleading groups. NIGHTMARE!!
