I dont see anything wrong with that. There must have been something else going on there. In that type of work it is a very common practice, espically on mid-night tours. One person can doze off while the other stays awake. If they get a call the other person will just wake you up. Now if both are sleeping than that is a problem.

It would be common if they were not on a call - but they were on the way to p/u a patient, so should not have happened. I agree though, there must be more to it because no one would have known had the other EMT not mentioned it (must have happened before.....)

I honestly wouldn't want to work with the sleeper or the one who ratted her out.
Both would be persona non grata where I work.

You couldn't trust one to stay awake, the other you just couldn't trust. I would work to get both fired.

I work night shift as a nurse and we do NOT sleep on the job! People can go off and rest while on thier break but that is all. People get written up for sleeping on the job. Why do people think just because it is night shift it is OK to sleep? If you work night shift then you must sleep durring the day. Yes we all get tired working nights, but it is not acceptable to sleep.

I agree there must have been more than just that one time. I bet this has happened a lot and her partner was finally fed up with doing all the work. It is very hard to work with someone who doesn't have the same work ethics as you.

If someone is going to show up in your home to save the life of a loved one, do you want them alert or in that "I just woke up" fog? Emergency personel are allowed to sleep between calls which is fine with me but not on their way to save me or my family.
