I'm far from being perfect in spelling or grammar, but there are some posts around the DIS that are impossible to read. Lack of punctuation can make things impossible to read. It can completely change the meaning of things.

Paragraphs. Use them.

And the spelling. OMG. The spelling. The most basic words. These aren't typos either. I have to wonder what type of education the posters received. I cringe to think of what the next generation will learn from them.

The use of prolly drives me up a wall. There is a well known dis bride who is suppose to be an editor, I had to stop reading her trip report because of the use of prolly.

I am most concerned about the future of our nation with a group of people who do not know how to spell, use correct grammer, or put a sentence together. It has nothing to do with being self-important in my opinion.

If one can take the time to respond in writing, why cannot one take the time to spell words out, use correct grammar and punctuation with exceptions for learning disabled folks?

I don't agree with this opinion at all, but certainly reconginze and agree with your option to express it.

Didn't you get the memo? No words are to be used on the DIS unless they are used in a manner that is consistent with how it is defined in the dictionary.. Once you have that down pat, you are then obligated to enlighten everyone else you come into contact with who chooses to use said word in a different manner or may feel differently about said word..

There is a lot of "text speech" on internet forums and unfortunately that has led to horrible spelling and grammar. I was appalled at my teenage cousin's writing skills.

For any teenagers lurking: we are actually firing someone based partially on her inability to write coherent business emails and documents. Spelling and grammar do still matter!

We have a girl like that at my job. Reading her notes is impossible because she doesn't have a decent grasp on the English language. The sad part is, she was born, raised and educated in the US. Her boss has spoken to her about it numerous times, but to no avail.

I spell words wrong sometimes, but I always use spell check to catch them, I can't understand why others are unable to. It's really easy.

The no paragraph and the run on sentence people drive me up a wall!!!

This thread happened to be about someone confused on the spelling/meaning of a word (because of the way it was spelled). The OP was correct, the person she talked about didn't understand the spelling.

You are bringing up the fact that to you the word hate (on the J & K) means to run someone over with a car and kill them, and several other dire things, etc. I pointed out the dictionary meaning of hate. You said and your friends and church disagreed with the dictionary meaning. I suggested you enlighten them since the dictionary is what most people use to see what a word means. You made it sound like they did not know what the word meant..hence the enlighen them remark.

That doesn't mean there is a memo, but that you and I disagreed on if a word should have the meaning that a dictinary gives it, even if you feel it means something else..it also just means that if someone doesn't know what a word means,the dictionary is a good place to go..no matter what someone 'feels' the word means.

I consider this a personal attack (trying to drag what I said over to another thread and make it personal), if you used my name or not, which is not allowed on the disboard.

You said you were done with this discussion of the word hate, because the type of counseling you were getting showed you this was not good for you, to 'play headgames' (in your words)..so why bring it into someone else's thread and try to start touble, if the thread wasn't about dictionary meanings for a certain word, but different spellings of words.

OP..something spelled wrong and someone didn't understand that.
