Vent: Frustrated with AP Rates!!

Well, the biggest reason we got an AP was for the hotel discounts. I had a friend who had one and told me all about staying at AKL and Wilderness for $150, etc. etc. In October, we ended up using a public discount unknowingly (called passholder line and thought it was being booked as such, but it wasn't...which was really frustrating when we tried to do the dining plan and had to buy extra tickets.)

I held out hope for our June trip, thinking if the public got the 25-30-40 discount, then AP must be better. Well, it isn't really that much better, but I'd take the 35% off mod. EXCEPT, now I can't get a room with two beds at CSR. All that is available are the king rooms (and we might have 3 adults so that won't work.) So I can't even use the AP rate.

I know I should be grateful and I really am an optimistic person- especially about Disney, but I just wish I knew the AP discounts wouldn't be that great before I got the pass. It might have changed my mind. The CS on the "online help" reminded me that we get other perks like store discounts, mini golf discounts, etc...no help to me since we don't buy much.

Anyone think other rooms might come available at CSR?? Or do you think its just standard to only have kings for the AP rate in the summer?

Thanks for listening :)

I'm an AP holder, too. It's okay to vent. In answer to your question, I think more rooms will become available at CSR. CSR is my least favorite moderate, so I'd look at other moderates, too.

Everyone says to not get the AP just for the room discounts because you can't count on room discounts ever. I think that's good advice for others and your experience provides credence to the warning.

Hopefully you'll wind up getting what you want -- and soon.

I tried to book CSR back in December for June at just rack price and they only had King rooms, I don't believe it just AP as a rule with conventions at certain times CSR is hard to book.

:thumbsup2 add in cheer/band/sport competetions and CSR can be booked at times. I would try another mod honestly for the $$ difference/savings vs taking a reguar room rate I'd stay somewhere else. I have my favorites but don't like any one over another enough to fork over extra $$ (in same category) to stay at it.

Thanks for the input! I know I shouldn't have gotten the AP just for room rates...and it is saving us a little on park tickets (more if we go a 3rd time this year.) But, it just seems appropriate that Disney show loyalty to patrons showing them loyalty. Why not give more perks to someone visiting several times a year since they are obviously spending more in the long run?

I know there is a convention schedule for CSR...is there something that says when cheerleading/band/sport competitions are? I'm pretty 100% sure I want to do CSR...its more our style than CBR, and I didn't like POFQ. I currently have the 30% public rate (had a PIN for 35%, but no rooms were available when I switched from CBR...so I gave it up.) But, I JUST booked the water view room on Wednesday- so they had the rooms available then! Crazy to believe they sold out in just a couple days.

I couldn't agree more. I love my AP because we go several times a year, but it seems like AP users get "punished" for being AP holders. You can have this deal...but you have to add a one day base ticket to it...which of course you don't need. I had to do that this year with the free dining pin they offered me. I'll just save it and use it toward the renewal of our AP's...but it's still a pain. Also, I wish they had extended the AP rate they were offering through June on deluxe stays or four nights or more...45%!!

All in all, I got a good deal with my free dining...even after upgrading to basic dining and despite having to add the base ticket.
