Vent! DD Has Strep Throat and refuses to take her medicine!

Somehow, I think the OP's now 10 year old is no longer refusing her medicine.

Big difference between 10 and 14 I agree!

But reading it really makes me appreciate that my chronic ear infection prone DD was great about swallowing her medicine! She is highly allergic to -cillins so we eventually did daily low dose sulfa medicine to prevent the infections. Worked like a charm and she loved her medicine! The alternative would have been to try tubes, which I guess would have been my solution if she were like the OP's DD and refused to swallow antibiotics.

I didn't even notice that! Good catch!

The only reason I caught it was there was a person who posted who no longer posts. Then I checked the year! It is funny how often a newbie posts on a super old thread.

I caught it too, because I recognized the OP and thought her dd was older than 6.

Anyway--My oldest dd actually prefers a shot. She would rather have it over with, and not have to remember to take pills for 10 days. She has been like this since 2003 when we was 8, and was diagnosed w/ Strep the day before we were to leave for disney. That time the Dr suggested the shot, and she has asked for them ever since.

You would be right! She takes pills now . She actually preferred the shots over the liquids for years.
