Other than the vent that I'm mad at myself for needing them in the first place . . . . I've notice an annoying trend in plus size clothing esp. professional/work clothes. Why do 75% of plus size blouses have sleeves that are only 3/4 sleeves? Just bc I need a little extra in the stomach doesn't mean I want less sleeves - or are they using the extra material from the sleeves for the stomach? I want full lenghth sleeves gosh darn it!

To be honest I like the 3/4 sleeve as long sleeves are always too long and I have to roll them up or tuck them under or something

I have 2 complaints.
1)Just because I am plus sized does not automatically make me 5'10.
2) Just because I am plus sized does not mean I have DD or larger breast! :headache:

It is such a pain shopping when you are short, smaller chested, and plus sized. Yup we DO exist!

I hear you OP. I usually wear plus size but I bought an XL sweater at Kohl's that fit but I returned it because it had 3/4 sleeves that were very wide at the bottom and I felt so cold wearing it.

Amen to this! :thumbsup2 I'm in the same boat.

Please increase the shoulder width. Some of us do have broad shoulders. I'm not shaped like a pear, more like a box.

All plus-size women are NOT "apple" shaped... I get so tired of buying pants that fit great in the hips/thighs but are big in the waist... :sad2:

Plus-size women DO like a little shaping in their clothing... being plus sized does not mean that you can't also be an "hour-glass"... :thumbsup2

I'm with you on the sleeves. Clothes shopping is an absolute misery for me, especially in the summer months. I absolutely won't show my fat arms, ever. Just a thing of mine. I wouldn't even show my upper arms when I weighed 130, but at least back then, sleeves were in!

I'd really like camis that came with full bras. Shelf bras do nothing for me. Also, whoever complained about the lack of petite, there's not a lot for tall gals as well. I struggle to find pants that are long enough & most sleeves are 3/4 length on me to start with.

As someone who is 5'1.5" tall, I totally agree! Many plus size tops could double as dresses they are so long on me. I do have great luck with Talbot's Petite Plus, but it's so pricey.

We need to shop at opposite places, LOL. I'm apple shaped, and I have so much trouble finding stuff that's big enough in the waist without having pooches on the side where you're supposed to have hips, LOL. I need apple shaped, so I should go where you shop, and you should come to the stores where I find all the pear shaped stuff. ;)

This isn't just a problem with plus size pants! I'm far from plus-size and I have exactly the same problem. Anything that fits my hips gaps around my waist. I end up having to buy low-rise everything, because nothing else fits. It's incredibly frustrating.

Oh, and with regards to the OP - I went shopping with my MIL the other day at a plus-sized shop. She was quite unhappy to discover that most of the plus-size jeans are being made with "skinny legs". She likes a straight leg or boot cut jean, and it was hard for her to find a pair.

I don't know what designers are thinking. The skinny leg look is dreadful on... well, just about everyone who isn't 14 anymore.

Being plus sized doesn't automatically mean I am 80 years old.

It also doesn't mean I am TALL, because I am short darnit!

As for the 3/4 sleeves, I prefer 3/4 length so I've never had an issue with that. I hate when they give us all of these options that require a strapless bra, because I have yet to find a great strapless DD bra!

In fairness, the hosts on "What Not to Wear" advise their makeovers of ANY size/shape to buy what fits the largest part of you, and have the item altered.

That's not unreasonable. Really. If we want fitted clothing, we need to expect to pay for it. No two bodies are the same, at any size. This is different from the OP's and others' issues about sleeve length.

Aha! Thank you. Supports my statement that it's not only plus-size women finding this problem. I will say to you, too: alterations.

I buy cheap clothes so I can't afford to go pay the same amount I spent on them in order to have them altered. I just have to keep searching until I find stuff that fits correctly. Altering stuff is all well and great for Stacy and Clinton who have plenty of money. It sounds so simple in theory but not everyone can afford that!

When I wore plus size clothing, it seemed everything was purple! I liked purple well enough, but I just got so sick of it!

Why is it that plus size clothing makers think that all thier stuff has to be blinged out, bright colored, and silky. I'm a classic kind of girl, I like solid materials in basic colors preferably in cotton or a cotton blend.

I also have average sized breasts and a smaller than my hips waist which means my pants fit my hips and thighs and bag at the waist, and I have to wear undershirts at work or my tops gap to the point of giving the guys standing at my desk a peep show.

On a historic note, I hate the color purple. When plus sized clothing shops were becoming a mall staple every one of them had three color choices, black-purple-teal/turquois. It still makes me cringe.

This! Also, I am not an NFL player. My shoulders aren't that broad! It's hard to find shirts where the shoulder seam doesn't hang on my arm instead of where it should.

I agree. For many people, having your clothes altered isn't a possibility.

Neither is going grocery shopping in trousers and heels, but I digress. WNTW is very impractical for where I live.

Keeping in mind that myself I'd rather buy clothes that fit...

I have to say that altering is a LOT cheaper than you think. My MIL regularly gets her blue jeans hemmed at the tailors and it's less than ten dollars to get it done. My mother also gets her stuff altered, and her tailor will shorten a gapping waistband for about six dollars. Any simple alteration is very inexpensive.

Obviously something complicated - like getting a whole dress refitted - is pricier, but on the whole tailors are not that expensive.

I have short arms so the 3/4 sleeves are the perfect size for long sleeves for me. I hate short tops and hip hugger style pants. I have no waist, but I want my pants to come up to at least my navel and my shirts to go past it!

I'm 5'11'' and plus size, so I actually have a hard time finding things big/long enough. I also have super long arms, so everything is 3/4 sleeves on me. Trying to find a winter coat is PAINFUL, which is why I only do it every couple years.

Trying to find jeans long enough, and shirts that aren't totally 1)way too busy or 2) way too plain. I have the hardest time trying to find a shirt that's "just right"....
