About a month ago I got this postcard from AAA saying that they were offering a cell phone package from Team Mobile. Now I have a cell phone from Verizon that I barely use. It's a cheap plan -- about $20 a month, but for only 15 minutes (but I don't use it much so that was never an issue). However this plan is $30 a month, with 300 whenever minutes, unlimited weekends, and hands free capability (which is what sold me since here in NJ you're not supposed to use your cell while driving and since that's usually when I use the phone, I needed to do something). Also a nice little bonus was all you had to do was dial 3 and you would be connected to AAA.

So I figure great, I'll go for it for $10 more a month. I call, give all the info and they say the phone will be Fed Exed to my house within 5-7 days. 2 weeks go by. No phone. So I call the number again. The guy on the phone was rude and said I had to call another 800 number. So I did. And it was the WRONG number (it was for AT&T service?!?!?). So I call back and this time the guy tells me that it isn't 5-7 days, it's 10-15 days. Well I am quickly approaching that mark.

Another week goes by. No cell phone. (Good thing I didn't cancel my Verizon phone yet).

Call yesterday (and I haven't mentioned that each time I call I have to hold for what seems like an eternity listening to bad music). Finally get some guy who sees all my information, but also sees that my order has not been processed. I was LIVID. I called 3 weeks ago and they haven't processed it??? What's up with that.

So I ask to speak to a supervisor. He's apologetic, but I honestly had to wonder if he was actually a supervisor or just another phone guy because he had my name wrong! (ARUGH!) I said I was sorely disappointed in the service and that if I didn't get the phone in 5 days I was cancelling the whole thing.

Well today, someone from the fulfillment center actually called. She had all my information, BUT they didn't tell her which package I was getting!!!! So I told her the AAA deal and she promised that it would be at my house by tomorrow afternoon at 3 PM.

We shall see!

Thanks for listening to my vent...we know return you to your regulary scheduled Dis-ing.

ARGH! I hate it when the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing! Let us know how this turns out. I am in need of a new cell too, and I don't use many minutes. This looks interesting, BUT... I also want some customer service!

Diane, I think if you want customer service you have to put yourself in a time machine and go back a few decades!

Sorry you had to go thru customer service purgatory. Hope it comes, but if it doesn't, can you cancel and just get another cell phone somewhere else?

I got the virgin mobile pay as you go. Had it since Feb and so far I've only used about $40 worth of minutes (That's about $10 a month) and I love it.

Sounds like Team Mobile is a reseller of ATT.
Where I work, I resolve porting issues for Sprint, most of my time is spent taking care of issues for customers coming from ATT.
Couple weeks ago I read a memo with porting stats from all the major providers, ATT was losing 9 customers to every 1 they were gaining.

I dont know for a fact that your new provider is a reseller of ATT but if the service you have recieved so far is any indication of what to expect, you may want to think twice about it. You normally have a grace period b4 u are hooked into a contract unless you are using prepaid that has no contract. To break a contract will cost you early termination fees. Take that grace period and look around.
Porting (Number Transferring) just went nationwide on May 24th, so most companys should have nice deals right now to gain new customers. goodluck with whatever ya do.
