Velocicoaster: guests evacuated after technical issue

We rode Velocicoaster several times during our stay and really enjoyed it. I know it is still in “rehearsals” and the thought entered my mind that something could happen. I’m just glad no issues arose when we were on it!

Gotta say, it would majorly suck to be taken off VC and given a fast pass for something that doesn’t include VC or Hagrids.

yeah I agree. I think it was only one train evac’d and it wouldn’t have affected the ride/waits to give them return access to it or Hagrid’sI thought that was very rude. Heck it wouldn’t have affected it if it was more than one train. That isn’t that many people.

I haven’t followed closely but the first thing I wondered about is where the coaster passes closely over sidewalks. What’s to stop personally belongings from hitting people below? Like someone’s heavy watch comes flying off and striking someone on the ground.

It goes over the queue sidewalk. And there are also a couple loops IIRC so something could fall out and hit you on the head.

I think most people will be responsible and remove all items they have. My husband rode RRR and emptied his pockets, took off his glasses, and rode. He was really glad he did. There is no way things wouldn't have fallen off if he hadn't.

I rode with my glasses on, but took everything else out of my pockets.

No issues.

They have metal detectors in the queue, like Hulk & RRR. You aren't allowed to have anything in your pockets on the ride.

We were on the ride when it was evacuated... not so bad we were at the point just before coaster goesback to slingshot you forward. Went back... just stopped. Waited 10 min our so.. went back again just stopped... waited another 5 min heard announcing that the velociraptors were being cleared and we would be evacuated from ride. 3 TM came and unlocked cars walked down a small sidewalk and were given tickets for fast pass. Reading small print said wouldn’t work for Hagrids. Went to Hagrids que explained we were riding one last ride before going to airport TM said hang on... came back with different fast passes sent us up the exit and we were on Hagrids.... such a spectacular way to end our trip! I LOVE universal.
