Veil Question

Did you wear the front veil that covered your face? I always wanted one so badly, but when I tried one on, it looked stupid and I couldn't see anything at all. I've thought about going back and trying again, but I'm not even sure they're that common.

No, I sure didn't. When I tried them on I kept squinting (I guess because it made things seem out of focus), so I decided not to do it. Plus, I was worried that I would be able to feel my breath on my face, which would annoy me. I had a detachable cathedral length veil (which I only wore for the cerermony) and a shorter veil that I wore the whole time (a little longer than elbow length).

I wore it over my face when coming down the aisle and my dad lifted it before "giving me away". My veil had 3 layers, a thinner one that went over my face-I could see perfectly clear and two layers that flowed from the back.
For us, it was all about being traditional. I was comfortable with it, and ot was a nice moment between my dad and I.
Do whatever feels comfortable to you.

I didn't wear a blusher. I tried several of them on, and I decided that I just couldn't deal with having something in front of my face. It would have driven me crazy. Frankly in Florida in June, the last thing I needed was another layer on me, no matter how thin!

Blusher! I knew there was a word that I couldn't quite get at...The heat is another issue...my wedding will be in NC in early August...when the humidity is at its highest. Not sure I can handle that or the gloves from my other post.

I picked out my veil yesterday, it's ivory & finger tip length with 2 layers, I will not be wearing it over my face, My mom is decorating the attached comb with beads & ribbon to match my dress.

I haven't decided yet if I will or not. My veil has the option of my being able to do it but I don't know. I've stood in front of the mirror and like both ways so I think it will be a judgement call when I am getting ready to walk down the aisle.

I would have my dad lift it up though and not have it on through the whole ceremony.

No, my veil was a single layer and I'm glad I chose that. It was pretty windy on the Boardwalk that day and the veil was blowing around pretty good as is.

I'm borrowing a good friends veil, and it just clips into the back of my head, so it doesn't cover my face, I don't like the idea of being behind one, plus I'm wearing a tiara, so it'd look a little funny probably.

I almost did. I had a 3 layered finger tip length veil so I was contemplating putting the first layer over my face to have it lifted by Wes right before we kissed (my parents did that so I thought it would be neat to do). But Wes & I both decided no way, because I know he would have not done it very gracefully. LOL So then I was going to have my dad do it just after he gave me away. We practiced...didn't quite work out. My mom's veil had been a lot shorter, so he had an easier time with hers. I guess the length of mine wasn't easy for him. It was a good thing though, because he wound up carrying my youngest brother (then 1 1/2 years old) down the aisle when he gave me away because he wouldn't go to anyone but my dad. But I'd rather forfeit the veil...because I absolutely loved that my youngest brother was with us.

I'm wearing a tiara so I don't think I'll have a veil over my face - i'll just wear it at the back.

My friend got married a couple of years ago and her and her sister are best friends - Hannah's dad gave her away but when they got to the front, before she turned to her groom, her sister - who was bridesmaid - lifted the veil. It was lovely and brought a tear to my eye :0)

Another one without the veil on the face. It didn't really go with the dress and such to have one over the face. Plus, it would have driven me batty.
I always have to think of one friend I had who did the veil over the face. Before she walked down the aisle, she was blushing because her dad overheard us talking about why she SHOULDN'T wear her veil over her face.

Had a face covering veil, then Dad removed it at the beg. of ceremony (very traditional) Mom insisted, but it was nice and the pics turned out great.
