I know this has been gone over ad naseum, and I've even seen some with tags about eating vegitarian at the park, but search is down, and I can't, for the life of me, remember who has the tag...so can someone point me to a place to find the best veggie food at the world? :p

Thanks so, so much! :wave2:

Have a great day! :)

ooh, you've asked one loaded question.

As a vegetarian who just got back in September, I can recommend a few excellent choices:

Le Cellier. It's a steakhouse, sure. But they have an excellent pepper and polenta dish.

Prime Time Cafe. Stuffed peppers that were so good, I ate the entire meal.

California Grill. Breathtaking view, incredible upscale vegetarian choices.

Jiko. Oh baby, this is vegetarian cuisine with so much flavor.

Tangerine Cafe. A Moroccan lunch. Yummers.

Mama Melrose. Brian the chef cooked me up one fantastic vegan dish with pasta, veggies, and garlic. Holy cow this was my favorite meal of the entire trip. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the menu and they cooked it for me special.

Concourse Steakhouse. Yeah, another steakhouse. But again I had a very good pasta and veggie dish.

Those are the highlight veggie meals from my last trip. I found most restaurants in the World to either a) have vegetarian choices, or b) be extremely accommodating when your tastes didn't match the menu. Enjoy.

DD is a "new" vegetarian. For this up coming trip I went to www.allearsnet.com and looked up menus at our favorite places. They also have a bunch of info on veggie dining.

Places we're going that have good veggie choices - Garden Grill (Epcot) offers a special ravioli primaverta. Boma (AKL) tons of veggie stuff!. Main Street bakery for lunch - they offer a mozzarella and tomato sandwich. Columbia House (MK) offers veggie chili in a bread bowl. Flame Tree (AK) offers bread stick with melted cheese. Tusker House (AK) offers a veggie wrap sandwich.

Most sitdown restaurants have a veggie choice on the menu.

Robin there is a book about Veggie WDW. I don't recall the exact title but if you search Amazon you'll find it.

:teeth: As usual, you guys are the best...thanks so much!

Hucifer & Harambe, my mouth is watering already!! :p I will definetly keep this in my little book! And Micca, I had no idea, I'll do a search on amazon. I also hadn't thought about allears...I'll check that out too...

And by the way, Harambe, I think it's so neat when a parent supports a choice like that...so many parents get personally offended for some reason when kids try new things. My mom still makes me feel guilty for not going out for steak with them....

Never quite understood that... LOL:p

Thank you so much! I'm getting more excited by the day!

Have a wonderful night everyone!

Here is the book you are talking about:

Boma and Jiko are both great for vegitarians. I was traveling in December with 3 vegans. It was challenging, but not impossible. Many places in the park have boca type burgers now. The Bakery on Main St. (MK) has a good vegi sandwich too. Get the book, it's really helpful, with one warning, availability on some of the dishes in the book vary. We read about a vegan milkshake at the Prime Time 50's cafe and went there only to be disappointed, they didn't have any soy ice cream that day. However, we spoke to the chef, their knowlege of their menu items is very good and we were able to get a delicious meal (just not what we were expecting). This in general was are experience, Disney chefs are knowledgable and accomidating at the table service restaurants. The Vegitarian Guide to Disney World is really useful in the parks though. I will help identify things you can get quickly at the counter service eateries, where if you ask them what is vegan they cast members look at you blankly. Just lack of information on their part, that's all. Anyway, I do really recommend the book, not only is it helpful, but a good read.

Thanks Baloo, I just ordered it :)

We are going to be out to Disneyland this year also (I grew up in Alta Loma, so it's a bit of a homecoming for me) Just wondering, do you recommend any place in the land for great food?

:) I'm not even sure you're down that way, just taking a shot...

:):):) thank you again everyone!

Robin, you can also find some excellent lunch choices around. I'm a big fan of the veggie burger, so Cosmic Ray's in the MK was a big choice for me...they had a toppings bar that made the difference.

I do have the Vegetarian's Guide to WDW, but the book was outdated. I think they updated it by now, but the World changes so frequently, I found the best source of current information to be online, like the Disboards and WDWIG. You should not be disappointed in your purchase because the book will tell you preferred places to dine.

When making PS's last year, they do not even have "vegetarian" as a special request anymore because most of the establishments will have veggie choices. And like I said earlier, I found that most restaurants will do something special for you if the menu doesn't appeal to you.

Beware of the water parks, however. The only thing vegetarian they had were cheese pizzas. I write about this experience in my trip reports.

Mama Melrose was my favorite meal! I really recommend it. :teeth: Ask for Kevin the waiter, he will literally bend over backwards if you ask him to.

Robin,
As far as Disneyland goes, it is my home stomping ground. We try to get to Disneyland at least once or twice a year. I must humbly admit that WDW beats Disneyland by a long shot as far as food good. Disneyland is coming along but they still have a ways to go. That said you will have an easier time in the parks than Vegans do. There are vegitarian selections in the parks, chile in a sourdough bread bowl in CA comes to mind. DL and CA are not as good about having vegi burgers on request, but ask, often they do have them but not listed on the menus. As far as table service goes my pick is the Story Teller's cafe at the Grand Californian. We ate almost every meal there our last trip. The food was great and they really have the WDW mentality of bending over backwards to make you happy. Ask for chef Aaron if he is still there (I'd be surprised though if he wasn't promoted by now). He did wonderful things for us with veggies. The Napa Rose is also a wonderful restaurant that serves fabulous food with the WDW mentality. There is also a Rainforest cafe in Downtown Disney, which is always a good choice for veggie diners. The Grand Californian is my favorite hotel, it is so beautiful. You will love just walking around there.
