Hi Donna!
A once 235lb., now 123-125 lb. vegetarian (@23 years) here! I also looked at several different weight loss programs, and because I'm not only a vegetarian, but a pain-in-the-neck-picky-eater as well, I ended up losing my weight with my own program of portion control and consistent exercise. I read a lot about nutrition, tried to keep high protien/low carb as possible, pretty much avoided bread/sugar/white flour products, but didn't deny myself anything either. If I was hungry for pasta, I ate it, but in much smaller amounts. I don't think I eliminated any food, just kept everything in moderation. Exercise was just as important for me, I can't stress that enough. It took me @15 months to lose 110 pounds (although 30 of it came after I had bleeding ulcer surgery and could only drink sugar free/fat free liquids for a month!), and I'm now maintaining--a little over two months so far. I still try to eat as nutritiously as possible and exercise 6 days a week. To tell you the truth, a lot of my cravings for sugar and 'junk' foods have pretty much disappeared. But if I'm in the mood for chocolate, I'll have one Hershey Kiss, not the whole bag! That's what worked for me! I believe Weight Watchers has a point system where you can pretty much eat whatever you want as long as you stay within your points? (If I'm wrong all you WW's, please correct me, I don't want to give out false info.!)
There are different threads on the WISH board (South Beachers, WW's) that you can check out to see if they may be for you. And if you have specific questions about certain plans, please post it--we're a real friendly bunch who'll be happy to answer any questions you may have! No matter what program we're following--we're all here for each other!
Glad you stopped by WISH, Donna, and I hope this helped!
