My daughter's potential (nearly almost positive! Fourth person we've asked!) guest on our Disney trip next year is vegetarian. I had my heart set on eating at Ohana our first night there. Is there enough for a vegetarian to eat (I would note it on the dining reservation, of course) or should I plan our Ohana dinner as a meal where the teenagers are off having their own meal? I don't want her to be stuck with a couple of sides and that's it.

I've read numerous dining reports about Ohana because I'm a vegetarian, too. Yes, she will have plenty to eat. There's a fruit flavored bread, salad with lime vinaigrette, broccoli, Asian-stye noodles, and if she's not vegan, bread pudding all ON the menu. However, many people speak to chefs and they are able to prepare several tofu dishes, stir fries and other specialty requested items!! Have fun!! popcorn::

Thank you! Our other possible ADRs look good when it comes to vegetarian options but I was worried that taking her to a place that was so meat-focused would be difficult when it came to her options.

(She's used to that, tho, since she's the only vegetarian in her house, and her family tends to just make her fend for herself if they aren't eating something she can eat. I wanted to be a bit more accomodating!)

I hope someone will comment who has had done this, but I have seen this discussion before, and seen people's photos of these gorgeous specially prepared vegetarian entrees that the chefs will bring out. I've even thought of going vegetarian for my next visit there. If you note it on the reservation and remind them at the podium, then the chef should come out and discuss likes/dislikes with them and prepare something special.

I'm curious about this as well. When do we mention we want a vegetarian meal- at the podium and/or to our server?

Prior to this trip we always told the CM when placing our ADR's to note the ADR. But this year we were told they are no longer doing that when you call. So for the rest of this trip I mentioned it to the servers. I had no problem with this at all.

As for 'Ohana specifically.. We dined there on the 9th and once we sat down I mentioned that I was a vegetarian. The server told me that the vegetarian dish was a veggie stir fry with tofu and rice. And as a PP pointed out several of the sides are vegetarian. I've always found 'Ohana to be very good and satisfying. This is always one of our must-do restaurants.

This is what we did last weekend. My girlfriend is a vegetarian. when we checked in we told the person that she was a vegetarian. When we were seated the chef came over to discuss the menu and options. The chef made her a wonderful veg. stirfry dish, and a special hummus and cracker plate for an appy. She could also eat the noodles and veggies from the regular menu. They have done this for us every time we have dined at Ohana.

OP- the friend will have plenty to eat! The last time I went I jsut mentioned to my servers I needed to speak with the chef, he came out(Chef Marcos) and boy did he hook it up! The food didn't take long to come out either! Although honestly If all I had to eat for a year straight was those peanut noodles, I'd be in heaven!

TinCup- did you get Chef Julie by chance?
