My boyfriend and I wanted to try out the Blue Bayou, mainly for the experience, but I was wondering if they have vegetarian meals. I don't eat seafood or any red meat, I only eat chicken sometimes, so a lot of times I order vegetarian stuff at restaurants. My boyfriend, on the other hand, will have no problem with all the meat on the menu lol :lmao:

I also had a question for anyone that has gotten the birthday Fun Card. I was wondering if you had to go into the parks that day. I know you can get the card at the ticket booths but I was wondering if anyone just went to the booths, showed them their valid admission, got the card, but didn't go into the parks that day. I am flying down there on my actual birthday and I would rather not use my parkhopper that day because I might not be able to spend the whole day in the parks depending on my flight time. So I need to know if you can get it without being required to use your admission that day. If you are required to, I'll have to change my plans around.

They have a portobello dish. It comes with couscous and, unless it's been changed since last year, a spinach something or other on top of the couscous.

The salad, when it was a "wedge salad", had a sausage topping that could be skipped. It's not a wedge salad now, but they might still have the sausage.

I was at DCA talking to a very high manager and he said to said in all caps the following.

TALK TO THE MANAGER.

He said to say that he and the chefs cannot emphasis that so much. They can make dishes vegetarian or chicken for example. It helps when making your priority seating to mention that you are vegetarian. When you arrive at the restaurant tell the waitress and ask to speak to the chef if what is on the menu does not meet your dietary needs. Also persons with medical and/ allergens need to talk to the chef at restaurants so that their special needs.

They can handle most requests like Kosher, vegetarian, no peanuts and gluten free. The Blue Bayou is basically the same sides, soup, salad, and bread with an entree put on the plate. That was last time I was there.

No problem at all. I'm a vegetarian and ate at BB in January. I had the portobello dish that a poster above mentioned. It was nice, perhaps a little bitter, but the chef did come out and talk with me about it beforehand. Also, when I made the reservation, I mentioned that I was vegetarian (virtually vegan) and that I also don't eat sugar or wheat. The head chef called me a few weeks before my trip and assured me that I'd be accommodated, as I was.

In short, you should have no trouble getting a veggie meal :-).

Im a veggie too. I liked the porteblla cous cous. But There was a lot of portebella. I also had the wedge salad. Just ask with no meat. I wish there was more choice for dinner for vegetarians. but I guess its ok, I just like to be in there.

I hear you! Just ONE dish?

But I try a little mental trick...they have just one dish for cow-atarians, one dish for chicken-atarians, etc. So one dish for vegetarians is just par for the course. :upsidedow

I think that overall disney does a good job, for my tastes as a veggie, but BB really does fall down b/c of just the one dish, especially b/c there are so many people in the world who HATE mushrooms!

OMG Molly, that's too funny.....we call DD12 a meatatarian because she has to have meat with her meals. LOL The rest of us are ok with just veggies but unless it's pasta she must have her meat! lol

OP I've never had that particular dish but the Tesoro Island Chicken has been very good the times I have had it.

I have to agree I wish there was maybe a pasta dish at BB for vegetarians and others :)

Personally at Rancho I think its all about the Grilled Veggie Tostada yummy and HUGE!!!!!!!

I still think WCT does the best to serve veggies at the parks.

Poor vegetarians well how about us with food allergies. I have veggies, mashed taters and chicken drumettes. That is all I get. Nothing like waiting 20 to 30 minutes for your pasta to be made while everyone is ready to leave. It is tough having celiac and wanting a regular meal and having to talk to chefs and try to find a restaurant that serves food you like. I am planning on testing restaurants as I can afford them.

Pinocchio Haus has a burger that is um standard with wrapped in lettuce and no pickles, tomatos, onions, barbecue sauce and no lettuce.

Pizza Port has great pizza and the rice noodles in marinara sauce was ok. 20 to 30 minute wait.

Pizza Oom Mow Mow is a 10 to 20 minute wait and quality depends on chef.

Ariel's shows fancy desserts that you cannot have as you are GF, HA HA HA HA.

Blue Bayou is being worked on as I was told that was not their way of doing things.

Ice cream shops where you watch the ice cream being scraped on waffle cones and ladles banged on waffle cones, I so love cross contamination, yes that was a bitter remark.

As you see having celiac is not fair and we with allergies have it rougher than people who opt to be vegetarians or who are picky eaters.

Last time we went, my wife asked if there was anything available other than the mushroom dish (she hates mushrooms) They made a pasta with marinara sauce instead for her.

Good to know!

But what did they charge for that? (scared to know)

I think it was $18ish. It was a fairly good portion and I believe came with a side of fruit. She did like it, but the sauce looked really watery. But she did find something there she likes!

I avoid wheat too; not sure if I have Celiac -- I should get tested. Try Zocalo. They have corn tortillas. In short, their veggie tacos are gluten free :-). BB was aware of and sensitive to wheat problems. They gave me gluten free rice noodles. Not bad at all.

My BFF has eaten at BB and received gluten free options, she was well pleased. Her favorite is Rancho too, I haven't done the veggie tacos yet but I always get the veggies on the side instead of beans, I love those things. I usually get the cheese enchiladas w/rice and veggies. VERY filling.....
