We are planning an adult only trip to vegas next feb, flying from manchester for 4 -5 days . Any tips on great hotels and flight routes? Thanks:)

Without question BMI for the best service there is. Unfortunatley they dont fly direct every day, its only once or twice a week.
We went with AA last Oct, changed in Chicago, had option at checkin to upgrade to P/E for £100 each, we stayed in Economy no problems, slept most of way.
For hotel subcribe to travelzoo.com just got an email this week offering MGM Grand at $79/night but you have to wait until close to travelling to get deals like that.
My Brother got me a good rate at The Flamingo as he goes every 2-3 month gambling and has an account manager over there.
Enjoy it, its an amazing place.

I went Virgin and it was a great flight from Gatwick direct, I have stayed there a few times, last time was Cesar's palace but I wouldn't go there again, the service was poor and they added things to my credit card That they shouldn't and took time to get a refund. ( booked and prepaid with Virgin H, but they still charged my CC three months later with room cost, when I left only Room service was on the bill)

I have stayed at the top of the strip at Sahara thats a nice hotel, also Hilton is good, both on the monorail so you can do down the strip.

Treasure island and Circus circus are on my list to stay at, CC has a big indoor theme park section.

We book the flights direct with Virgin and the hotels direct with them (through our Amex platinum card service as we get a discounted rate, breakfast included and an upgrade on our room.) We like to stay mid strip, or if we are doing a split stay choose one at one end of the strip for the 1st part of the stay then move to the other end for the 2nd stay. This time we are staying at the Bellagio for a week but have previously stayed at the Venetian and the New York New York and I would stay at all of them again.

If you are just staying a few days I would stay mid strip, Bellagio, Paris, Ceasars are the more expensive resorts but Harrahs is cheaper and comes highly recommended on the Vegas boards I frequent. They have just re done lots of the rooms there and they are supposed to be nice. Ballys, Imperial Palace and Flamingo would be OK too.

I would not choose to stay at a resort at the North end of the strip, Stratosphere, Circus Circus, Sahara etc as 1) they are quite far out, the strip is a lot longer than you think and 2) they are older properties and are not so nice (except the Sahara which is OK) plus the walk from these properties to the rest of the strip is not so desirable later at night.

We stayed at the Tropicana and didn't have any complaints. If you get tired of walking you cam make use of "The Deuce", a double decker bus that runs the length of the strip and offers a hop-on hop-off all day fare. The traffic along the strip gets really heavy though.

Also if you are thinking of doing any shows I can highly recommend Blue Man Group at the Venetian.

My mom is over there at the moment on holiday and is staying at the Tropicana, she flew over with virgin!

she is having a fab time and has done quite abit of shopping to save the least!

I don't think you can go wrong staying at any of the big hotels on the strip, we've stayed at Stardust (before they blew it up!), Treasure Island, Excaliber, Monte Carlo & Aladin, they were all good. My favorite was Aladin as even the taps were shaped like magic lamps.

I can't help with flights as we only fly into LA & drive as part of our holiday.

Haven't been for a little while, but can't wait to go again as I love it almost as much as Disney.

We stayed a week at the Luxor last year and loved it! Probably not the most luxurious of the hotels on the strip, but had everything you could need for a lower price than a lot of them.

Also, although its slightly up one end of the strip rather than central, we found it was actually a better location as it was linked to a few other hotels so you could get around easily (linked to Manderlay Bay and Excalibur, which in turn is linked to NYNY and MGM) whereas the ones in the centre of the strip weren't linked to any other hotels so took longer to make your way around (had to set foot on the street!), which was especially annoying early when you want to get to breakfast!

We went with Virgin. They were their usual shoddy selves!

We stayed at Paris and it was fabulous. Very good location and the hotel itself was amazing. We had a room that overlooked the Bellagio fountains and we could see the pool as well as the Eiffel Tower. Very Nice.

We've stayed at Monte Carlo (nice), Caesars Palace (wouldn't stay there again) and Bellagio (THE BEST HOTEL IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! IMHO of course!!!:rotfl: )

Loved Vegas - Just waiting for the kids to get a little older then we''ll be there!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We flew direct with Virgin Holidays, staying at the Mirage...which was a nice hotel but I would try somewhere else next time. (probably Venetian or Bellagio)

If you looking for things to do then I recommend the helicopter trip with champagne lunch in the grand canyon......AMAZING! (I took my DH to Vegas for a week as a surprise for his 30th B'day, with the Grand Canyon Lunch on his B'day - he says he will never forget it!)

Also the cirque du soleil show 'O' is fantastic....I have seen about 6 of their shows as this was my favourite by far! Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the tips. Will check out the hotels on the net.:) Would really like to do the helicopter trip, the blue man and cirque shows:cool1: We had decided to have a year off from the US but the pull to book is too strong:)

Best to book flight and hotel seperately for best bargains.

Website for hotel offers with promotion code is as follows:

www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php

(go to last page for latest offer codes)

or

www.vegas-promotions.com/all/pa/2.htm

Beauty of booking with hotel direct in the case of Vegas is that they give good prices with extras and you can cancel and rebook if you see a better offer up to 24 hours before.

Good forum for Vegas is tripadvisor.com

Stayed at Luxor 4 years ago and staying at Excalabur in May for $51 per night thanks to fatwallet code.

As the above poster said try fatwallet, we've had some great deals from there. Last year we stayed at Planet hollywood (formerly the aladdin) and it was a great spot mid strip and we had a bellagio view, I think we got a rate of $69 per room per night and had $100 chips, 2 tickets for a show and a few other things.

Anywhere mid strip is the way to go, don't under estimate how long the strip is, I think I read somewhere that each hotel is around 3 blocks long!
