Looking at going to Las Vegas next Feb 1st ever visit and thinking about staying at the Luxor.

For a little bit more (£100 english) have been quoted the Treasure Island or New York New York.

2 adults no kids.

Which would you choose & why?

Thanks :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I loved Treasure Island. The beds are the most amazing.....so comfortable. I love the location because it is right next to the Mirage and across from the Venetian.....and Madame Tusauds. It is definitely on a smaller scale than the others and that's what we liked.

I think you could probably get a better rate, try signing up for emails....I get deals from the Venetian all of the time.

I like Mandalay Bay or the Venetian, when I checked prices just now at Mandalay Feb5-7 are $209 and they 8th is $139 USD

Good luck, we lived in Vegas for 3yrs and hope to go back and visit soon.

Everyone is going to have a favorite hotel, if they have gone before.

I've stayed at the Luxor. It was nice enough, but I was there in December when it rained and my windows leaked like a sieve. It was puddling in the room.

Treasure Island or the Venetian, which others have suggested, is more in the middle of things and if you can find a good deal, that might be the way to go.

Of your original choices you suggested, I think New York New York is good. It is newer for that end of the strip and was easier to get around in. You can get lost in the MGM Grand. Also, the food choices tended to be less expensive in New York New York.

Treasure Island is right in the middle of the stip and is nice.
New York New York is at the start of the strip. You can walk to things either way. It just depends on how much walking you want to do.

Of those three, the Luxor is my favorite - I certainlly would't pay more for TI or NYNY. The Luxor is towards the South end of the main Strip, the TI towards the North End. Location wise it's a toss up. NYNY is slighty better location, but I don't like the rooms there as much as at the other two, it has the worst pool of the 3 (TI's pool is nice, but way too small for the size of the hotel), and the roller coaster is annoying from many rooms.

Go to all their websites and sign up for their specials. They will send you emails with awesome rates. I got one for MGM for $79 a night yesterday. It;s worth the little bit of time to sign up :thumbsup2

I loved The Mirage - right in the middle of it all - beautiful, beautiful hotel. :thumbsup2

And the tigers! :cloud9:

I just returned from Vegas last week. I''ve been there many times.

The hotels most centrally located are: Bellagio, Paris, Bally's, Flamingo, Harrah's, Mirage and Caesar's. Of the three you've mentioned, I would choose Treasure Island. It is in the best location (IMHO) of the three and is a very nice hotel. I like the casino in Treasure Island. It is easy to navigate and somewhat calm. There is a tram between Treasure Island and the Mirage.

Treasure Island is across the street from the Venetian and the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. You are walkable to the Wynn (gorgeous). Have their breakfast buffet - fantastic.

You are also walkable to the Forum Shops at Caeasar's Palace. You can explore Bellagio (also gorgeous). Paris is across the street from Bellagio. All of these hotels are fun to explore. They all have some fantastic restaurants and shopping abounds. Of course, you can gamble a little too :teeth:

Are you planning to see a show? I saw LOVE at the Mirage (new Cirque show based on the music of the Beatles) and thought it was spectacular. I've also see Mystere, "O" and Ka! - all great.

You should go to all the hotel websites and register for e-mail promotions. I stayed in a huge lakeview suite at Bellagio last week for $299. I could have had a regular room for $149. It was a great deal.

The weather in February will be cool, but pleasant. Last week it was 100 degrees every day. In February, it will probably be in the high 60's, maybe 70 during the day, but it will cool off quite a bit in the evening. Rates could be good at that time.

If you have any questions, I will try to answer.

Have fun planning your trip!

Do you have to be a member of their casino clubs to get these rates? Do you need to have stayed at the hotel before? Or can you just sign up on the hotel's website to get these emails? I signed up for MGM/Monte Carlo and got nothing yet :(

We're going Feb 20-25, if you've seen any deals for those dates pass it on!

I have stayed at all 3 of your choices. I loved the Luxor first. It was well themed, the rooms were huge, not to far of a walk to the room(stay in the pyramid), good value, great restuarants. My second choice would be NY NY. I liked the casinos and bars. The room was ok themed. The roller coaster was fun to. Treasure Island was ok. I liked how it looked on the outside. The inside was ok.

IMHO I would choose Treasure pirate: Island.
Here's a website I like to check up on before I go www.lasvegasadvisor.com Vegas is my #2 favorite destination (been there at least 15 times). I like the site because it has a great variety of information about casinos, food, and entertainment all in one spot. The casino section has links to the actual casino's web site so it makes it easier to compare casinos as you go through the list. Good luck on your trip :shamrock: .

Going for the first time in November! We chose the Bellagio. Good luck!

We really like the Luxor.
Especially their casino. My DFI loves their video poker bars, I loved the camel racing machine (although that may be gone now :( ). We find the staff there to be really friendly.

My parents stayed at Treasure Island and really liked it.

DH and I haven't stayed at the Luxor yet, but it's always in contention depending on the rates we can find. We have spent some time there and enjoyed it. the Luxor usually has one of the better room rates on the strip, except for a couple of hotels I refuse to stay at. Yes, you are down at the south end of the strip, but if you don't feel like walking to the far end, it's a cheap cab ride, should be under $10. DH and I don't spend a lot of time in the room usually, so don't splurge on room upgrades. The Luxor is connected to Mandalay bay via a shopping area, and there is a tram to both Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. NYNY, MGM Grand and Monte Carlo are all within walking distance as well.

have a great time! be prepared for lots and lots of walking.

We go to Vegas at least 4 times a year and have stayed at every hotel on the strip at one point or another. OUR *notice it's OUR* opinion is that the Luxor is not a hotel we'd consider staying at again. Some people love it but for us we do not. I don't really like the location and we've definitely stayed in nicer hotels. NYNY is ok but if you are unlucky and get a room near the roller coaster it can make for a LONG stay. Treasure Island is nice but we don't prefer the location. It's at the other end of the strip and we like more centrally located.

Since the addition of the monorail getting up and down the strip isn't as tiring as it once was. We prefer to stay on the side of the monorail just for ease and convenience. Vegas is definitely a mirage in that things look WAY closer than they are. You start walking and it looks like the next hotel is only a block away but they are way further than you think.

In Feb the pool isn't really an issue because most of them are not open. It's only in the mid 60's at that time of year so I wouldn't base my stay on whether the pool area is nice or not.

For us we prefer mid strip but don't want to pay the $$$ for Bellagio or Caesars. Been there done that. We usually stay at the Flamingo Hilton or Ballys or Paris. We have stayed at Monte Carlo and love it because it is smaller than most of the other hotel/casinos. It is on the opposite side of the street than the monorail but quite easy to get to MGM to snag a ride.

I don't know what rates you are being quoted but I'd definitely look around online and see if you can beat the rate you are being quoted. There are a ton of deals if you go through a particular hotels website and I agree with signing up for their email promotions. We've gotten great rates that way.

Looking at www.vegas.com they have rates listed for the first full week in Feb the 4th through the 11th and the Flamingo Hilton is only $10 USD more than the Luxor for the week. It's centrally located and if you're lucky you can get a strip view and watch the Bellagio Fountain show from your room.

If I can help any way let me know! We leave to go back there on the 20th of October and I can't wait!

Note -> several people have mentioned signing up for email specials. If you don't want to do that, most of the email specials that come out are posted on this board: http://www.vegashotelspecial.com/ (be sure to get the name exactly right, as there are dozens of useless websites with very similar names).

We went to Vegas last May and stayed at Ballys. Hotel was ok, I would stay there again for a good rate. My sister stayed at the Luxor and I didn't care for what I saw of it. The lobby was really nice but the AC didn't work well in their room and I didn't care for the "pyramid slanted window". They also have an "Inclinator" (is that how you spell it) instead of elevators and I didn't care for those. I could see how someone with vertigo issues wouldn't like them either.

We looked at a lot of the hotels while we were there. The Monte Carlo seemed really nice, I think we might try that one next. Paris was really nice but seems to be more expensive. The other higher price hotels are out of our league, I would rather spend the extra money gambling and eating!!!!!

One note on the Flamingo. On the Tripadvisor forum for Las Vegas some one mentioned that there was a huge billboard picture of Toni Braxton hung up at the Flamingo that was blocking the strip views from the rooms. It was actually covering up the windows, not complete lack of light, but not the view you want. I don't know if this correct but you might want to check it out. I would hate to have my heart set on a beautiful view and see the back side of Toni Braxton instead!

I personally love the Venetian, we've stayed there twice now. The rooms are huge and so comfortable. The staff has always been great. We got a strip view room for $169 a night off of an e-mail for our last trip. Trip before that we got the Venetian for $99 a night through priceline and the matched the price for the second night. :cheer2:

I spent one night at the MGM Grand and will never do that again, the room was horrible and even with the dark-out shades the room glowed green all night. I prefer to be further north on the strip too.

Of your picks I'd go with TI!
