Vegas savings

Um, I'm not very good a saving money in Vegas :)

I can however recommend Batista's Hole In the Wall for a reasonably priced Italian meal. It is a little off of the strip but walkable. It is kind of vintage Vegas and not trendy at all.

If you don't have it yet, get the MyVegas app and play as much as you can until your trip (Without spending money to buy more chips). The last time I went I reedemed a 24 hour monorail pass, a free buffet at Luxor, and a free buffet at Excaliber. My husband had the same things so we came out with 2 completely free meals (aside from tip) and saved ourselves a lot of time using the monorail from our off strip hotel.

Yes - this is great advice! Don't buy chips - just get as many "free chips" as you can. There are 4 games for Mobile devices (MyVegas slots, Konami slots, and myVegas BlackJack, and Pop SLots) as well as a separate MyVegas slots for use through Facebook. Just don't get too addicted that you HAVE to buy chips!

Lots of available freebies and discounts!

Have a great trip - I've been playing for a year with hope of getting to go to Vegas! lol

We both have the apps on our phones but we each only have 8k. Hopefully we will be able to rack up enough before November. I have my eyes set on free zumanity tickets

For cheap(er) drinks and food, hit up the Cosmopolitan during their social hour: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/the-social-hour

Food and drinks in Vegas are very, very expensive (vending machines in the Mirage dispense $8 20 liter sodas). Fortunately, daytime entertainment doesn't have to be. Especially if it's your first time, I find just walking up and down the strip and exploring all of the resorts to be entertainment in itself. To me, the "silly" resorts like Excalibur are just as much fun to see as the luxurious like the Wynn.

There are so many places worthy of pictures. If driving around from hotel to hotel some of the hotels are starting to charge. You can ride the deuce bus for up and down the strip. I love window shopping. So much shopping. The Bellagio has a great bakery with a huge chocolate fountain to take pictures of. The conservatory is great for the pictures as well. They change the theme out. There are free shows out in front of the hotels. Bellagio is a neat water show.
I also like the M&M store, the Coca Cola Store. There is an Earl of Sandwich in the Planet Hollywood. Make sure you wear comfy shoes. Things are not as close as they appear to walk. And it can still be warm outside so take a bottle of water. They have the gondola ride inside and outside the Venitian. Right behind the Encore, and the Wynn they have a whole new area. I would love to check out my self.

There is a store called ABC I think on the strip. They have inexpensive soft drinks, etc. you can get a cab and do a quick liquor store stop to get snacks and drinks. Buy a foam cooler because there are no fridges except the ones stocked for the mini bar.

In the MGM you can screen a new tv show. It's free to do and kinda fun. My friend did 2 Broke Girks a few years ago and I did Angel from Hell last year.

When we went, we stayed in a condo with a full kitchen so we had groceries delivered from Von's. That saved us money on food. We also had alcohol delivered. We could make drinks before we headed out to the Strip. Buy a flask and get a fifth of your favorite alcohol to drink while you're there. We had a case of beer and some vodka and tequila delivered with our groceries. We didn't have to buy too much at bars and we still had a blast having a typical Vegas trip. :drinking1

Cheapovegas.com for tips
Tix4tonite.com (and at their many outlets in Las Vegas) for discounted show tickets
Goldstar.com also for discounted show tickets.
Hash House a Go Go for a plate of food that will last you a week
See how much it costs to rent a refrigerator at your hotel.

We love MyVegas. We're not big gamblers but enjoy the surrounding area a lot.

Trip 1
BOGO entrees at Nine Fine Irishmen (New York New York)
$25 credit also at NFI (used for drinks)
2 tickets to Cirque de Soliel's LOVE show.
2 dinner buffets at the Mirage (before show)

It was just DH and I on this trio. I felt like LOVE and the NFI rewards were an excellent use of our points.

Trip 2
2 free nights at the Mirage
1 discounted night ($59) at the Mirage
BOGO breakfast at Mirage
2 X Bellagio dinner buffet

I probably wouldn't have done so many buffets on the second trip but we were there for a wedding. The wedding party did the Bellagio dinner and our evenings were busy with wedding festivities-no time for the shows. In the future we'll probably only do one breakfast buffet and use our points to see another Cirque show.

There is SO much to see at the various hotels that you really don't need to spend money on activities for your first trip. Maybe pick a show or two you want to see (the comedy clubs at Harrah's and Tropicana are usually less than half the price of a production show and make a nice budget night out--coupons are readily available too) and save the other paid attractions (i.e. the aquariums, rides, Titanic exhibit, etc.) for another time. You'll have too much to do just exploring the various hotels to need to stop and spend extra!

Tips to deter the ubiquitous time share people:
Tip 1: Dont walk together; they're primarily attacking approaching couples
Tip 2: One of you point in any direction and say, "I live two miles that way".

These are great tips - thanks! My husband and I are planning to go to Vegas for our 20th anniversary in January and we've never been. We're not drinkers and will only gamble a little bit, so we're primarily going for the shows, and just because we've never been. Love the tip about the MyVegas app -- I'll have to get my husband to download that and play it and win us some free stuff!

Agree! Batista's is great!

We did one of the timeshare thingies and it wasn't bad. Paid $169 for 3 free nights, $150 in free gaming, and a free buffet(which was nasty). The tour was 90 minutes-and we made it 90 minutes. The free gaming went to the roulette wheel and we walked away far enough ahead to pay for the entire 3 day trip, so it wasn't bad at all.

Walking the strip is fun, many sights to see. You can spend nothing or you can spend alot.
Old Vegas downtown is another spectacle.
If you have a car, red rock canyon is awesome, so is visiting the Hoover Dam.
Shows can be budget, or they can be expensive. Depends on your taste.
We completely underestimated the beauty of the area, from the natural surroundings to the glitz of the night lights.

We went twice in 2015 and plan on returning in 2017. It's a great place to visit.

Hope you were able to rack up more MyVegas points - I signed my hubby up on Saturday and played for a bit Saturday and yesterday and he has 4,000 points already. No money spent - just the free coins. Your trip should be coming up soon - hope you enjoy. I am trying to see if we can get out there in February for 2-3 nights.

Check the usually places like living social for deals before you go. Also they have some sort of same day ticket booth which I used before. For me the food is part of the experience, you can only each so much at a buffett (or at least my travel group can) so we did 1 or 2 for the sake of it but preferred to spend money elsewhere on better meals that we could order just the amount we wanted. There is a fabulous tapas restaurant at the Aria I went to twice, pricey but you basically can order 1-2 dishes at a time and stop when you are full, totally worth the money to me. If you can have snacks and drinks delivered to hotel as this is a huge savings as always. If you are going to a lot of night clubs I bought this deal years ago that gave me VIP free club entry into a list of clubs or BOGO drinks. It was like $50-65 (we picked it up at a booth selling event tickets in a mall in Vegas when we got there) but worth it as it was cover for some of the most in demand nightclubs and they had to let us in if we had the card, we couldn't be turned away unless they were at max capacity which actually never happened. We got to skip lots of lines and on a Saturday night skipped a line of like 50 people at one club. Promoters will sometimes put you on lists but its just not the same as they put everyone (especially ladies) on those lists and so you still can wait for an hour in a line.

I generally spent almost nothing on sight seeing, some on entertainment, and the most on food. You can see a lot for free by walking around, there are plenty of shows so you can score cheaper tickets to shows easily (easier than NYC in my opinion), and the food even when you try to go budget may not be worth it (ex. some fancy hipster pub type restaurant we went to was like $20 a person for a cup of chili and a side, shouldn't spent another $20 on a steak dinner).
