Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant/Dining Help Thread

Anyone tried the new sandwich at Liberty Tree Tavern? I was looking forward to the potato quinoa burger, but it's apparently been replaced.

I saw a post somewhere about it yesterday, and then I went and looked at the official menu. Here's the new description:

The Vegetarian Proclamation
Roasted Seasonal Vegetables Sandwich, fresh Greens, and Tomatoes topped with a Tangy Vegan Mayonnaise Spread with fresh Fruit or Sweet Potato Fries
$12.99

Oh no, my DS and I LOVE the quinoa burger at LTT. It was SO good!! :confused3

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a resort quick service vegan breakfast? I know that pretty much every resort has fresh fruit, vegan Mickey waffles, and that sort of thing but I was hoping maybe somebody had a particularly unique dining experience? For example, does any resort offer a tofu scramble for breakfast?

The vegetables in the tofu and veggie entree at Everything Pop are delicious! The tofu was a little bland, probably would've been better cubed than in two slabs, but the veggies make the dish so good, and worth getting.

subscribing.....

This thread has been so helpful. We are heading to the World for 10 days at the end of April. I have been vegetarian for 17 years and have never had any issues eating out anywhere and have never called ahead. My girls are vegetarian and while there is usually something on the kids menu for them it is often the same old bland/boring cheese pizza, mac and cheese ect. We often end up just sharing an adult entee or a couple appetizers.

Now I have been vegan for over 2 years now and I very rarely eat out. It is much harder to eat out as a vegan but still doable. It seems Disney makes it much easier for a vegan to eat than most restaurants. This thread has made me think it might actually be possible to get some tasty meals while on our trip.:cool1:

Thanks for sharing this! I'll be at Pop in six days and I didn't even know they would have tofu for us! This dish sounds absolutely delicious and now I am actually even more excited to eat there. It is very reassuring to know how accommodating they are.

mombrontrent, you should definitely make an ADR for dinner at Trail's End! I don't know if you have heard, but there is an awesome chef there named Chef TJ. He makes really wonderful dishes for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, etc. I've personally had 2 meals by him so far, and they were so good. He has somewhat of a cult following among vegetarians and vegans at WDW. :) He is known to be at Trail's End Sunday-Thursday.

Does the '50s Primetime Restaurant still have the spaghetti with vegetarian meatball? That was my go to meal. I loved it so much. But we haven't been in two years. I'm planning our next trip and it's not listed online on the menu anymore. Hoping it's a mistake...

Thank-you, I would love a meal by the infamous Chef TJ. I will definitely try to include a meal at Trails End during our stay. My girls are pretty adventurous eaters (especially the youngest) and get tired of Uncrustables and such on the kids menu but have small appetites. Sharing on the adult menu seems to work best for us.

Just gotta say...the potato leek soup and the vegetarian quiche at BOG, and the Gardein dish at Sunshine Seasons....they so so so SO good!

Roasted veggie omelet at SSR foodcourt = delicious.

Veggie burger at Cosmic Ray's = yummy! Fries were very tasty. And they had packets of Simply Heinz ketchup, which doesn't have HFCS and corn syrup in it. Yay!

Even the no-chicken Greek Salad at SSR was scrumptious, once they remade it twice! (check your salad! the chicken looks like feta chunks to a casual glance)

I can't think of anything I ate that wasn't really good on this trip. Well, the no-bacon Tillamook grits they made for me at The Wave buffet weren't as great as I remember them being, but that was race day and I was totally nervous anyway.

Has anyone done the Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea as a vegetarian/vegan? If so how was it? Most of the packages seem to have pate and/or sandwiches with meat, did they substitute? Also did you let them know when you made the reservation or just on arrival?

The sandwiches are pre-made, so they just grab different ones from wherever they get them. You can swap out. Not sure about the tea with pate.

If you're getting one with cheeses, for me personally, if I'm dining out I don't even ask about ingredients. At the store I have my own way of deciding what cheese to get, but when out it's not something I do. (except in Europe I don't eat a certain cheese I cannot recall right now because to be called *that* it HAS TO be made with animal rennet...since I know it's made with rennet, I know not to eat it)

Other than that, being veggie at the Tea has been fine. You might want to talk with them about the items including whipped cream. I tend to just avoid them, going for scones instead, but sometimes Disney puts gelatin in things like that, and you might ask. And then come back and break all of our hearts, LOL.

I'm still in mourning for the vegetable pot pie that the quinoa burger replaced! It was one of my favorite meals on property.

Well, it looks like LTT has a history of good veg dishes, so I'm currently keeping my ADR, and I'll let you know how the new sandwich is!

Thanks for the update! I definitely plan to try some of those dishes on our trip like the potato leek soup and Gardien dish at Sunshine seasons.

I was wondering since you went to BOG, did you find out if any of the desserts are vegetarian?? Thanks!

I didn't even think to ask. I was there with my friend, who is a recovered vegetarian LOL (she was only veggie because her then-husband was), and I didn't want to mess with checking the binder. I've let you guys down. :(

In my defense; we were REALLY hungry by that time. I was finding it hard to think, let alone think about things I wasn't going to eat anyway. (we got desserts at other times, not mealtimes)

Oh it's no problem! I was just curious but hopefully I can report my findings after my trip next month. I have a lunch and dinner there so I should definitely find that out! DH was turned off by the idea of pre-ordering his meal anyways.

I am also curious about the gourmet cake cups at the Chesire Cafe which look amazing.

Is there anything I can eat at Sci-Fi (Gluten free and vegan)?

We ate there last year. While there's not much on the menu the chef came out and said they'd make whatever we wanted. Ended up with pasta primavera and a soy blackberry vanilla milkshake.
